First impression? I am distraught over the disappearance of my quick launch tool bar. I use that thing religiously. I am enjoying the drag-left drag-right comparison windows. I enjoy "homegroups". I also enjoy the new desktop features that have rotating pictures (although I could just script it with Javascript and use Active Desktop before). My World of Warcraft is having low framerates and the start menu is having trouble opening my massive my docs folder as well. The my docs issue is probobly the most annoying. It generally freezes explore.exe for about 30-60 seconds trying to open the folder. I like the new grouping method on the start bar and the use of windows aero to show my windows. I don't see the point of the hovering over "show desktop" feature on the right of the start menu; you can't click any icons. Other than that, I can't see much difference between Vista and 7.

I feel there is "False Racism" in America. I am not disputing there is racism, but this subject is false racism. It is a term I am coining for every time a black person calls a white person racist for something a white person did legitimately. (Hold on, don't kill me yet). I feel that Americans are trying their hardest to destroy racism in America but it seems that one group cannot move on. We have people like Al Sharpton who are quick to call people racists, but have you ever noticed that Al Sharpton only speaks of racism against black people? Why doesn't he fight about racism against Mexicans, Indians, Arabs, and hell, why not Canadians?
Here are my example: Several weeks ago, a group of black children were kicked out of a private swimming pool. Immediately, the owners were labeled racist and an apology was demanded. However, if you read the news article, you'd have seen that the children were being disruptive to other customers. Now, if a white child was splashing water on a white couple, the child and his parents would be asked to leave. If a black child is splashing water on a black couple, him and his parents would be asked to leave. If a white child is splashing water on a black couple, the child is racist. If a black child is splashing water on a white couple and is asked to leave, the club is racist. Am I wrong? http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/07/22/harvard.g...view/index.html Now we have this professor. Now, granted it was his own house. The lady who called to report it was wrong. However, police had to investigate. BEFORE the professor showed police his ID, he was harrassing them, badgering them, not cooperating, ect. He was arrested for that. But because he was black and the situation puts him at his own house, police are accused of being racist. If the man had cooperated in the first place and showed police his ID at step 1, this would have never happened. That fact cannot be disputed. Now I dont feel the argument that blacks and minorities are disporportionately filling our prisons as evidence of racism. The truth is, everyone has an equal chance in this country and those people made their choices. Sometimes life is harder for some people than others. I'm sorry life was rough for them, but it isn't easy for anyone unless your Daddy is Bill Gates or Donald Trump. If we all want to get rid of racism in America, everyone needs to do it. That means Al Sharpton is going to have to fight for everyone's rights, not just black people. We need to come together as a people and not throw the racism card around just because we can. Also, we can't use single incidents as evidence as a greater problem. Black people need to stop being racist as well. Ok, crucify me now.

QUOTE WASHINGTON (CNN) -- When people on the government's terrorist watch list have tried to buy guns or explosives in recent years, the government has let them the vast majority of the time. Current law doesn't stop firearm or explosives sales to people whose names are on the terrorist watch list. That's the finding of a new report by the Government Accountability Office, sent to lawmakers last month and released publicly Monday. From February 2004 to February 2009, 963 background checks using the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System "resulted in valid matches with terrorist watch list records; of these matches, approximately 90 percent were allowed to proceed because the checks revealed no prohibiting information," the GAO report says. About 10 percent were denied. "Under current law, there is no basis to automatically prohibit a person from possessing firearms or explosives because they appear on the terrorist watch list," wrote the GAO's director of homeland security and justice issues, Eileen R. Larence. "Rather, there must be a disqualifying factor (i.e., prohibiting information) pursuant to federal or state law, such as a felony conviction or illegal immigration status." Of the 963 background checks, 865 were allowed to proceed, and 98 were denied, the report said. The GAO provided the report in response to a request from Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-New Jersey. The GAO said Lautenberg had requested an update to a 2005 report. In a statement Monday, Lautenberg said, "this new report is proof positive that known and suspected terrorists are exploiting a major loophole in our law, threatening our families and our communities. This 'terror gap' has been open too long, and our national security demands that we shut it down." The statement said Lautenberg is introducing legislation that would give the U.S. attorney general "authority to stop the sale of guns or explosives to terrorists." However, an official with the National Rifle Association, the leading lobbyist group that espouses gun ownership rights, said problems with the terror watch list made a broad prohibition likely to violate the rights of law-abiding citizens. "The integrity of the terror watch list is poor, as it mistakenly contains the names of many men and women, including some high-profile Americans, who have not violated the law," said a statement by Chris W. Cox, the NRA chief lobbyist. "In fact, a March 2009 report by the inspector general of the Department of Justice concluded that many people whose names were mistakenly placed on the list remain there even after their cases have been vetted and closed." The GAO notes that being on a terrorist watch list does not mean that someone is involved in any terrorist activity. Last month, the Justice Department reported that the FBI had kept thousands of names on its watch list based on outdated information and should have removed them. I cannot believe this subject would even come up. The people on those watch lists are mostly "suspected" of being terrorists or have some relation/link to terrorist activities. They include 2 year olds (news articles), anyone with an arab name (duh), anyone who voted for Ron Paul (US State Department memo on soldiers returning from Iraq), and anyone ever involved in peaceful protests (Department of Defense Anti-Terrorism exam listing protests as a form of terrorism). When did American start forgetting "Innocent until proven guilty"? We cannot start ignoring the 2nd Admendment because it makes us uncomfortable when someone suspected of something buys a gun. Until these people are convicted, they have rights that we as a country must stand up for no matter their ethnicity, otherwise we will return to McCarthyism except instead of Communism, it will be terrorism we are afraid of.

I just saw it and all I got to say is...wtf?
That was a wierd movie and the ending... If I were an 8 yr old kid dumped on a strange planet, I dont think I'd last very long. How am I to know which plants are dangerous, what animals are dangerous, and how to fight alien diseases and infections? |
