I absolutely love David Eddings. His first two series were so great and original and funny and exciting and interesting and enthralling. I'll admit, his third series the Dreamers is a bit too reminiscent of his first series and the jokes are still funny but are getting old. That is why I haven't finished it yet. I really enjoyed the first two books though. If you haven't read Eddings, you should. Start with Pawn of Prophecy, but if you're not a big reader (which for some reason I doubt) then read Belgarath the Sorcerer first cos it's what I started with and it's what got me hooked. However, it isn't supposed to be read first cos it has spoilers for Pawn of Prophecy. I was fooled by the "Prequel" thing written on the front cover. Very misleading.

And, if you feel CP has starved you of real characters and you are feeling deprived, Eddings is for you. He is great with characters. Read the Rivan Codex afterwards if you like. It's a guide to fantasy writing and it's funny and informative.

Well, I hope you are not a fan of Inheritance then. Because Eddings is one of the people CP "borrowed" from. And, I'm just curious, what books did you find were better than Eddings?

Great! :-) I thought his first series were better than the Dreamers, but it might6 just be cos it's getting a bit repetitive. I'd read the Elenium and the Tamuli first. And I did love the first two books of the Dreamers but I haven't been able to get into the third one yet, probably because I took such a long break that I've forgotten all the characters.

Woah, you certainly own a hell of a lot more than me. Actually, I've never counted, so I don['t know exactly how many I do own.

Yes, I've heard they're good. Stupid school and their stupid set books have prevented me from reading what I would like to in the past year, so I have yet to explore those.

But please tell me you are not an Eragon fan, or you at least prefer David Eddings to CP?

Were you supposed to have the capslock key on? Lol.

The fact that CP's writing is really bad makes me doubt he will remain in the literary world much longer.

I also prefer Terry Brooks...but I've only read one trilogy by each. (Sword of Shannara for Brooks).

My friend pestered me and pestered me until I went out and bought The Tamuli but it's not the best thing I've read. I like Sparhawk though.

To read a great fantasy series, read The Wheel of Time. It contains the best fantasy character EVER! Rand al'Thor.

My "shipping" tendency made me like the romance between Vanion and Sephrenia. The best kind of romance is forbidden love. I like that.

Sparhawk's cool. But the Belgariad was also good. I love Belgarath and Polgara and their father/daughter relationship. There aren't enough stories about father/daughter relationships.

I would have to say this was his best series also (Belgariad)
