Does anyone read Percy Jackson? There a set of five books (not all of them are out yet) about a boy, Percy, who finds out that his father is a Greek God. He and his friends go on different quests to keep the peace between gods, mortals, and half-bloods such as themselves.
They are really terrific books, though they might attract a slightly younger age group if you're 18 or over. If you like Greek Mythology, you should DEFINITELY try these.

Who's your fave Olympian that we've met already? I like a few of them-- but Athena just plain scares me. She gets on my nerves a bit . . . But I liked it when Aphrodite was talking to Percy about Annabeth in TC

Yeah, those books are amazing! I've read the first 2, and am trying to find the 3rd one without the means of ordering it online. When I first started reading the first book, I thought it was about a bunch of mentally retarded kids. The front cover had a minotaur, Medusa (the snake head lady), and Cerebrus (three-headed dog), so I was wondering what a bunch of mentals would have to do with mithalogical "creatures."
At my school in Missouri, there are some books that are given the Mark Twain award. And if you read 13 of them, you get to go on a field trip. Well, The Lightning Theif (Percy Jackson) was one of the Mark Twain's.
Really good book, anyway.

Ares- stuck-up brat
Zeus- too "I'm in charge so be quiet"-ish
Athena- just plain creepy to me . . . I mean SERIOUSLY, what's worse than having an immortal enemy who will never forget how you've offended her and will keep on trying to make you suffer? And of course she's the Goddess of Wisdom so she's bound to win . . .
Faves:
Apollo- like Thalia said, "Apollo is hot."
Artemis- not as annoying as I thought she'd be . . .
Hermes- pretty cool . . . only Olympian that's actually kinda normal-looking-ish . . . except for those talking snakes . . .

I like Hades, but I've previously seen several good interpretations of him, so that may have something to do with it...*whistles*
But seriously, I don't really see how they could be better. They're well told, and the story fits the characters and the direction it's going.
The only thing I really didn't like was Thalia's choice at the end of book three, but that might just be me and my personal preferences...

I mean I understand it in a way - and that IS where the story was leading. I still think it was impulsive and that there MAY be some repercussions on that, particularly when Luke gets involved again. Personal opinion, mostly though....
