I am sorry if this sounds very newb like, but is GIMP also for making animated sigs and avatars, not just for digital photography?

Yup, you can make gif animations with GIMP.

Yeah. That's basically what everyone on this forum (that doesn't use Photoshop) uses. Without question, the GIMP is the best freeware alternative to Photoshop. You can do pretty much everything in the GIMP that you can in Photoshop.

Spencer you just gave me an Idea! Ok, I'll turn this into a game later. Somebody say a line like "Wonders of the World" then sombody turns it into a picture with Niagra Falls with writing on it saying "Wonders of the world" or something, sound any good?
