Did it ever reveal if Saphira will ever find a mate?, I thought there was a spoiler saying we would find out. Options

I do not think that Saphira will find a mate. I think that the age of dragons may be doomed. Hrothgar says that rider will be no more even if the get the other egg.

It would be great to see him proven wrong though.

I think this was just in there to show the Hrothgar's view and not as a prediction. Christopher Paolini's writing is predictable, he is leaning towards a fairy tale ending and if the dragons weren't able to repopulate or no wild dragons found then wouldn't be much of a fairy tale ending now would it.

I would say the green has a much larger chance to be honest, Thorn has a lot to overcome to even have a small chance of being Saphira's mate.

This was touched on in other threads, but I will repeat it here.

The feelings and affection that bounce from a Rider to their Dragon are not direct feelings. In other words, since Eragon fell in love with Arya, Saphira won't fall in love with Arya. She will feel compassion towards her and a level of respect, but no romantic feelings. Same goes for the reverse.

Now, if we had two Riders and their Dragons, and the Riders fell for each other, the mutual affection that is shared by the Dragons would influence them to fall for each other. Hence the theory that Arya will be the next Rider and influence Greeni to mate with Saphira, but that is a topic for other threads.

But if Thorn and Saphira fall in love, that could help Murtagh and Nasuada come together. Same for Eragon and Arya. Then if in any case Saphira and Thorn have a daughter (wich may turn out to be violet), she could mate with the unhatched green dragon.

1. I don't see how Thorn + Saphira will help Murtagh + Nasuada. I don't have a problem with either relationship, but they aren't realy connected.
2. You know, it's not like the green dragon is a baby and Thorn/Saphira are adults. If it hatches in Book IV, it would only be a year behind Saphira and Thorn. Unless Thorn and Saphira mate extremely early on, I'm thinking their offspring would be quite a bit younger than the green dragon.

btw, is it stated that a dragon's color is determined by the parents'?

I don't know about the color.

But I think it's a superb idea if Thorn and Saphira mated and then the green dragon will have feelings for their daughter.

What I meant was, that both pairings are very similar. It make sense that Murtagh may have feelings for Nasuada.

That's true.

What I meant is that, since Eldest came out Thorn had a low chance of being Saphira's mate. Now that Brisingr is out, his chance is higher now that Saphira feels sorry for him and that there are many possibilities for them to be together. I never said that chance is higher than the green dragon, but at equal heights.

Thorn is far too messed up at this point. He is confused and twisted, a hatchling in the body of an adult. I doubt he will be perfectly sane in his mature years.

I dnt think hes messed up i think hes just been given a huge dose of growth hormone lol he didnt hatch into the body of an adult he grew rapidly due to spells by galby... who knows what the long term effects are if there are any.... but i think Saphiras future is not with Thorn.. i think theres a wild green dragon lurking around somewhere thats calling her name lol

I hope that a huge purple wild dragon swoops down out of the sky and they fly off to Vegas together!

I am hoping that it will be Thorn who mates with Saphira, we know nothing ab out Thorn really, so we cannnot say that he is "crazed" or whatever, I still do not believe that the last egg is going to be green or play an important role in the last book.
Or, I would also like to see her mate with a wild dragon, if there is one out there, I have high hopes for that one.

Uh....this makes absolutely no sense at all.As close as they may be, they are still individual characters, each with its own needs.Just because Murtagh and Eragon are half brothers, this doesn't mean Saphira is suddenly related with Thorn, unless CP decides to mess around with it.

Even if Thorn had a chance to mate with Saphira, will he know how to....do it?After all he is still a hatchling with the body of an adult.

Maybe that was a spoiler when everyone thought that this would be a Trilogy and not a Cycle. So, that spoiler is true, since it would be the last book, but CP extended to a Cycle, so the spoiler is no longer plausible

and btw, Saphira doensn't hate Thorn, she pitty's him
