Here's a picture that I copied by looking off of the Eragon book. It took me about 2 hours. I started at 3:15 my time and ended at about 5:15 (P.M.). I think I did really bad on it so bear with me. The scales look fake (I think). Tell me what you think of it so I can touch up on my art skills. Sorry for the shadows and blurriness. I had a digital camera. Enjoy!

Here's so you can compare.

Here's the picture partway done.

Here's the picture done.

I am going to make a backround so technically, it's not fully done. So...what'd ya think?

He gave her twelve roses. Eleven were real and one was fake. He said, "I'll love you 'til the last one dies."

You have to upload the pictures on to a picture hosting site such as Photobucket. We can not look at the files on your computer unless you gave us all access to it, and if i were you I wouldn't.

Very nice work on the details! It takes a lot of patience to go through all the scales like that, and the coloring you did with it is great. I tried this myself and when it stopped turning out how I wanted it I quit because I knew I wouldn't be proud of it, hah.

I suppose one thing that you could fix is the little spikes on her back. I know in the real picture they stick out in odd angles and such, but I never liked that very much. Usually, I would point them back a little, since thats the general direction that things grow. Fur grows pointed back, not straight up, as do scales. So pointing the spikes back makes them seem to follow the flow of things. I hope that made sense!

Will you try and do the Eldest or Brisingr cover soon? I would really like to see a gold dragon from you, that'd be great!

FABULOUSSSSS!!

I think I might. I haven't read Brisingr yet, but after I do that I will make a picture of that. For Eldest...I'm going to have to get a book (I borrowed the book from the library when I read it) back and look at it right next to me. Oh, yeah and on the Eragon one I did, I'm going to try and do the backround on the book onto my paper wallbash.gif . I hope that made sence.

Cool ).gif It looks like a good copy. Think the neck's a bit stiff or somethin' though. You detail very well. Keep'em coming.

Great job =)

I like the detailing of the scales on the face.

My only advice would be that necks tend to either get wider or stay a constant width towards the bottom. The neck of your dragon instead sort of shrinks as it gets further from the head. Try to add some circumference to the bottom of the neck, and it should look more realistic.

Hope to see more soon!

Ahhhhhh....Man, here is the picture with the backround. I think I totally ruined the picture. I wish I thought better....

Here's so you can compare.

Here's the picture not yet done.

Here's the picture almost done.

Here's the awful picture fully done...

Well....What did you guys think? I know, it was pretty bad. Well, I'll try to get an Eldest book so I can make another thing like that.

It's not too bad. But the lines are drawn really hard and in all kinds of weird directions. You should try to use the line and direction of the colors as a tool to make the drawing realistic and so on. IT looks a bit rushed.

The bottom of the background looks better. Try not to draw so dark at the top, it's too little contrast.

Yeah, the whole point of putting up spoiler warnings was so that people who hadn't read Brisingr but still wanted to surf the forums could have that opportunity.

Saphira Gal-

Your drawing does look better with the background. However, do thicken the neck at the bottom of the page. It wouldn't hurt to thoroughly blend the background, either. Try using a tissue and rubbing on the background to smear it together a bit.

Good work, all in all =)

Heh, I think we've all experienced that at one time or another. You have this great idea for a background, and when you put it down, you feel like you've completely ruined the picture.

But really, it's not as bad as you may think. If you do it over, I suggest making smaller strokes on the background, so it seems to blend more. The bottom of it is nice though, in my opinion. The strokes of your pencil aren't very visible, and even though making small strokes takes more effort, it usually looks nicer.

FABULOUSSSSS!!

Well, I'll keep that in mind. I'll try rubbing it with a tissue, see if it works. I wish I had better art supplies though because I just used a pencil and colored pencils on that one.
