Alright, here is the first proper chapter.

Chapter 1 – A New Beginning
Eragon awoke in a cold sweat, the dream swirling round his mind. The dream kept replaying itself on the backs of his eyelids. He snapped his eyes open and sat up. The illusion vanished. Slowly the events of the past few days came back to him, the great battle fought in Uru’Baen and his victory of Galbatorix. The memories flooded back, overwhelming his senses. He lay in the room which had until recently been occupied by Galbatorix’s now deposed Lords, still exhausted from the battle he had just fought, and the thought of what was to come. The restoration of the Riders.
‘
Wake up little one’ Saphira said unexpectedly, interrupted Eragon’s thoughts.
‘
What is it?’ he replied tiredly.
‘
Ah, so you are awake, I have been trying for the last ten minutes to wake you.’
‘
I suppose you weren’t waking me because you just wanted to talk?’ Eragon said hopefully.
‘
So, you have got some common sense in that thick skull of yours.’
‘
What do you need to tell me?’ Eragon said angrily.
Sensing that her fun was at an end, Saphira decided to tell Eragon what it was. ‘
Queen Islanzadi wants to speak with you.’ she said.
‘
When?’ Eragon replied as he climbed out of the large bed and started to get dressed.
‘
She asked for your presence now, ten minutes ago.’
‘
Ten minutes!’ Eragon exclaimed, ‘
Why didn’t you tell me?’ Eragon asked as he buckled Brisingr to his belt and left the room.
Five minutes later he burst into the throne room where Islanzadi was waiting. Eragon noticed that Arya was standing next to her mother, who was sat on the throne. Before Eragon could speak, Islanzadi gave the first line of the Elven greeting.
‘Atra esterni ono thelduin.’
Eragon was almost too shocked to reply with the second line. ‘Atra du evarinya ono varda.’
‘Un atra mor’ranr lifa unin hjarta onr’ Islanzadi finished.
When she finished, Eragon spoke. ‘You Majesty, why do you honour me so?’
‘Because everyone in Alagaesia is forever indebted to you for ridding us of the tyrant, and the head of the Riders has always been above any elf, and deserving of our respect.’
‘But I...I’m not...Am I?’ Eragon stuttered. ‘
Did you hear what she just said?’ he asked Saphira, though he knew that she would have.
‘You were the first Rider since the Fall Eragon, you are the elder Rider, that makes you the head of the Riders, as tradition dictates.’ Arya said. Eragon had almost forgotten that Arya was in the room, so shocked was he by the revelation that he was the head of an ancient order.
‘What must I do?’ Eragon asked, still surprised by the news, although since Oromis died, he had always known that something like this would happen.
‘That is up to you’ Islanzadi said.
‘
Eragon, I suggest you should let Evarinya knows what is going on.’‘
Can you let her know?’ Eragon asked.
‘
Very well, were should I tell her to go?’‘
How about the castles dragon hold?’ Eragon suggested, ‘
Then you will be able to join us.’
‘
Alright.’
‘Arya, could you come with me and Saphira, we are going to meet with Evarinya in the dragon hold.’
‘Of course,’ Arya said, ‘Kveykva is already there.’
At that moment Saphira appeared next to the open window. Eragon jumped through onto Saphira’s saddle. Arya followed. ‘You don’t mind, do you?’ she asked Saphira, though she spoke out loud for Eragon’s benefit.
‘Not at all.’ Eragon replied, just as Saphira was flying into one of the dragon pens. He wished the flight could have lasted longer, but it was not to be. Saphira landed in the largest pen, in which Kveykva, Evarinya and Sverdar were already there. When Arya had reached Kveykva, Eragon began.
‘I suppose you are wondering what I wanted to see you about,’ he said to Evarinya. Before he could continue, she interrupted.
‘I know, Saphira told Sverdar, and he told me.’ Eragon was surprised by the anger in those few words.
‘So you know that I am now the head of the Riders.’ Eragon replied.
‘Yes’. Once more Evarinya’s speech was filled with anger.
‘I take it that you don’t agree with this.’
‘
Eragon!’ Saphira said, she feigned shock at his words. ‘
I’m surprised, you aren’t normally so perceptive!’ Saphira’s voice was laden with sarcasm. Eragon could tell that she was having fun, so did not rise to Saphira’s remarks.
‘Yes, you are right I don’t agree. For one thing, you are a human, and for another, you are only seventeen. Both Arya and I are far older, and more experienced, one of us should have been chosen.’
‘Just because you are older, doesn’t mean you are fit for the job.’ Eragon replied, he was starting to get angry as well, and Saphira filled the room with smoke from her nostrils. ‘Ebrithil Oromis and Ebrithil Gleadr named us their successors.’
At the mention of Oromis and Gleadr, Evarinya quietened down, obviously she was unaware of that. Although she muttered in a barely audible tone, ‘It was never their choice to make.’
‘But now we need to decide what we do with these.’ As he said the words, Eragon opened Saphira’s saddlebag and presented the clutch of six dragon eggs which they had brought back from across the sea.
_______________
King, Roran thought as he left the castles throne room on the day of Galbatorix’s defeat, with the Dwarven king close behind.
They want me to be king?. The words that Islanzadi and Orik had spoken had still not quite sunk in.
‘It’s a big responsibility,’ the Dwarf said from behind him, ‘But you will manage well’ Orik said, reassuringly.
‘How do you know?’ Roran asked.
‘You are a natural leader. Aye, I have heard tell of how you led your village in defiance of the Empire, and when you feast in the Dwarven halls, I would hear you version.’
‘But what if I don’t want the responsibility?’
‘You are as stubborn as your cousin, mine foster brother, you’ll do it, though you may not like it.’
They were nearing the bottom of the spiral stairs. Roran pondered the kindly Dwarf’s words, then, just as the Dwarf was leaving, said ‘I will think on it.’
Orik nodded sagely and walked away, muttering, ‘He’ll do it.’
