Yeah, I have no idea where my old art thread went and since I've gotten some inspiration to draw lately, I decided to start a new one...

My latest work in progress. Excuse the horrible quality and the weird lighting please, my scanner is being mean and uncooperative so I have to settle for taking pictures of my work. Or, at least for now. It's a tiger! It's not done yet, but I liked how it is so far. Hopefully, I'll figure out how to work my scanner when the colored version is finished.

I'll put some more up when I'm not lazy.

Was that from reference or straight from you head? Because it's amazing. The patterns are absolutely beautiful!

This may just be me, but it looks like it could have the torso and limbs elongated a bit.

Yeah, I did. This was the photo I used. I'm a bit out of practice since I hadn't really drawn anything realistic in a long time, so I wanted to make it as close to the actual reference as possible. And the tiger is probably a bit slightly out of proportion. I never was good at the whole proportional thing, but I'm trying.

Doh! It's a cub! Disregard my last comment about it, it is spot on.

Thank you! This is literally the first realistic drawing I've done in months, school has been keeping me busy. I want to color it in when I get time, either in watercolor or color pencils. I'm kind of undecided on which medium to use, though... I like how I could shade easily with color pencils, but watercolor is just amazing (I'm thinking of doing bamboos for the background and I think it would be really nice if I used watercolor). The only problem is watercolor paint tends to have a mind of its own and I'm not sure if I should take the risk of possibly ruining my drawing in the process.

Wow Stormfire, nice piece there!

I think the head may be a little (And I mean really just a little) bit too big. I'm having a hard time judging whether it actually is or not.

I really hope you use watercolor, I love water color works. But whatever works for you would be great either way!

FABULOUSSSSS!!

I agree. The head does seem a bit big, and the snout looks a little weird. Otherwise, it is brilliant.

MAybe using watercolour for that bamboo and pencil for the tiger?

^^ That is ADORABLE!!! I thought that the nose should be a little shorter and the legs a little longer. If you were looking to get into more detail, you could make the fur along it's outline a little more prominant. But seriously, it's better than any animal I've ever drawn.

Work on the eye, that's the only thing that's really throwing it off. (It looks unfinished in any case, so perhaps you already were planning on it?)

More black, bigger, shinier, fiercer looking, etc...

That's awesome really nice clean work and its not anime! Hurrah!

I really wanna see more.

EDIT: only crit is hind legs are a bit stubby. You can probably fix this appearance by (instead of making the actual leg thinner which would waste time and be hard) just make that back foot thinner, if you compare too the pic you probably know what I mean.

The overall shape os good, but the body is too small and the head looks of a wolf with a cat's wiskers.

It's all about posting in a thread before too many people post in it.

Yeah, I'm still working on that. I'm having some trouble getting it to look right because of how small it is.

I absolutely can not draw anime. A lot of my friends are really good at it, but I just can't. They always trun out really bad.

I actually redid the back foot just now. It looks much better. Now, all I need is fix up the details, add color, and for my scanner to work because the photos have that weird glare in them from the flash. glare.gif

It must be because I'm more use to drawing wolves and dogs.

I actually don't see a problem with the shape of the head. Though I don't really know the anatomy big cats very well, I still think it resembles a tigers head. Maybe it's the eye angle. You could try adjusting it, but it might be hard to erase in the small area.

FABULOUSSSSS!!

1) That is a good thing that you "cannot" draw it, don't ever try to. It will mess you up in the long run, take it from me.
2) They may be "good" at drawing anime, it may look tight and flashy, but believe me, anime is the lowest, laziest, form of... Hell, I refuse to call anime "art" or any PERMUTATION even (all six of them) of the word "art" after how bad it messed me up. Stay away from it, please. I'd hate to see your amazing gift go down the gutter.
3) See #1.

You can't draw it? You must be immune to it. That means you are the chosen one.
