These are nice. You did a good job on Thorn.

Glaedrs shading is a bit off in some areas, but that's better than I can do.

And the wolf is very nice. Don't change it a bit.

They're all pretty good. I like how you go into detail with them. How long have you been drawing?

QUOTE (xBANannAx @ Apr 16 2009, 09:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The proportions are good. The shading on his neck make it look like he has a huge shadowy dent there, and it's kind of distracting to the eye. Otherwise, great detail!

QUOTE

Again, great details. I'd never have enough patience to add in all that. One thing - his head kind of looks fluffy, like chicken feathers I guess as opposed to scales, and his face (where his eyes are) looks strangely flat. Try working in some shadows to help define the shapes in those areas.

QUOTE

I love wolves!!! They're one of my favorite animals, so I already like your drawing. p.gif Some things - the whiskers kind of give it a coyote look, the belly usually slopes upward toward as it goes toward the back. Were you referencing a photo when you drew? I learned a lot of things I never noticed when I did that while practicing drawing animals. It's worth a shot. ).gif

QUOTE

In a way, it has a neat perspective thing going on. The white spots kind of give the illusion of sunlight reflecting off its skin. The flipper, however, looks a bit too square. Otherwise, it has potential!

QUOTE

Aha! I see it!!

QUOTE

I like this colorful one better. ).gif It's a good replica of the book cover, and again your details are awesome. Nice work!

Thanks!
I haven't been drawing long. I started drawing last year....unless you count doodles.
I made Thorn fluffy because I like to add my own twist when I draw. I personally think the Inheritance covers look likes a horse with a horn.
I always have a picture when I draw animals or book covers. I might post the pictures I used later.

Here\'s an update.

Here is my first attempt at drawing Saphira. Ugly, I know.

Here is my second sketch of Saphira. A big improvement, I think.

Okay, these are pretty good, just somne thijngs you can work on.
In general, don't use lined paper! It spoils your work!

Glaedr- you have a line on his cheek that should not be that well pronounced. Just use a tinny bit of shading.

saphira 1- Her head is a bit thin, an imo, the deluxe edition ruins it. Unless you want to replicate the cover exactly, don't put the otherstuff on it. Concentrate on the dragon/whatever. She also looks a bit mean.

saph. 2- The head is too short in this one! The neck is straight- remember, her neck is bent in a curve slightly on the book. It looks more natural having it curved.

Thanks for the advice!
I added the deluxe edttion sticker because I was too lazy to draw the rest of the scales. I'm a lazy person.
I'll redraw Saphira now that I know what I'm doing.

The Fire Star one is very good. I love that book ^^. Anyway, the scales are very well drawn and I wish I had the book with me to compare. The shading isn't bad but may need some sort of "touch up." Some of the scales are going in a different direction than the others and I'm not sure if that's on the book or not. The eye is very interesting. I think it would be nice of you colored it.

The dog is really cute. Though the front right leg is a bit bigger than it should be. And on the head, I think you over colored it, like you went out of the lines. I wasn't sure if that was intentional or not. The sky and grass is really well drawn, also. I love the tail and how it curves in the certain way you had it. I love the drawing. He/She is cute.

Thanks!
When I add details I just tend to make it a bit sloppy out of laziness or not paying attention. You'll see that a lot.
I think the lines were from my eraser. My eraser and sketch paper don't get along. p.gif
