Chapter 1

"What have we here" Will said looking through his sniper rifle scope.

"Brutes?" the ODST named Josh asked

"Yeah a pack right next to the entrance"Will whispered as he shuffled to get into a better position.

"Alpha Group sniper rifles at my command ,sync displays" Josh said

"Display synced" was said over the com

"Okay .....Fire"

No noise was made but all the Brutes seemed to stiffen , but they did not fall. Then 10 ODSTs moved out of the undergrowth and entered the ancient forerunner facility walking right past the brutes. The brutes had been hit by poison with a by-product nerve fixing solution so the brutes literally died standing up.

The ODSTs swept the first 4 floors with no sign of anything. The strange Forerunner computer displays lined around the facilitates walls. Josh looked at the strange holographic lift controls as they descended down to the 5th floor on a lift. 'Clunk'

"Ah arrived ,open the doors" Josh said to the ODST technician. The technician moved to the door and attached his hacking device to the door. Rhythmic beeping meant that he had started his hacking procedure.

BEEP.....BEEP........BEEP.....BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

" Oh bugger" the technician said

"What is it" Josh asked

"Bloody forerunner locking is a lot more advanced than the covenants" He answered

"So you can't open it" Josh said

"Nope" the technician said sounded frustrated.

"So we bust it" Josh said over the comm.

2 of the ODSTs moved forward and attached magnetic mines too the door.

"Shields" Josh said

The ODSTs moved behind portable energy shields that the Elites had supplied the UNSC.

"On 1 3...........2..........1 "and the 2 ODSTs pressed buttons on there belts and the doors exploded.

"Lets Move" Josh said

But as soon as the first ODST went through the door he fell back onto the floor smoldering

All the ODST jumped from the doorway as plasma filled the space they had just been in.

The corridor had a line of jackals with interlocking shields that blocked there progress.

"What are we gonna do" One of the ODST asked

The ODST squad had no heavy fire-power as they liked to travel light and fast.

"Leave it to us" A voice said out of nowhere

Seconds later 2 smoke grenades seemed to fly out of nowhere and down the corridor filling it with smoke.
Then the air in the doorway shimmered for 10 seconds and then settled back to normal.

Josh engaged his helmets light-bending shield and looked into the corridor there were 3 odd patches of air moving down the corridors towards the jackal line. They stopped about halfway and for a few seconds nothing happened. Silence ,the only sound Josh could hear was his heart pounding. Then suddenly 3 spanker rockets appeared out of nowhere and hurtled towards the jackals. They blew apart the shield wall.

Shield gauntlets and parts of jackals flew into the air. He noticed the air shimmer in the gap . Then Josh heard some snicking sounds and then the Jackals seemed to crumple. Josh then waved his hand and his ODSTs moved down the corridor.

"Stop" a voice commanded

Josh looked around but couldn't see who had said it. Then out of nowhere 3 enormous figures clad in shining green Armour appeared.

Sorry i didn't know there was a general fan-fiction place.

I will make the next chapters longer now i know there is interest.

I will update next monday.

Okay i just updated it to make it longer and more descriptive.

Yeah, it's good. A few spelling errors, but it doesn't matter all that much.

Oh, and the ending of the first part wouldn't have happened. All the Spartans, except the Chief; who is MIA, and the ones on Onyx are dead; there are no more active Spartans after Halo 3. And the UNSC wouldn't make more, the death rate in the augumentation process was way to high, they only made Spartans in the first place because the war with the Covenant was going so dismally.

But keep it up, I really like it mate. If you need any help, feel free to ask me. I've been writing Halo fan fics for a while at Bungie.net, so I sorta know what I'm doing.

not strictly true about the ones on onyx they were transported to a shield world .

And also i did not mention when this was. it will be explained soon. Also they Could be Spartan III as they had a 100% survival rate with the augmentations.Also the spartans were not made for the covenant war they were originaly designed to solve Civil war problems as the USNC was about to fall apart.

Chapter 2

“About time to” Josh said

The Spartan made no inclination that he had even heard a noise . Josh looked him up and down and then the two Spartans flanking him. They wore different Armour to the man standing in the middle. This Armour looked lighter , more flexible and less bulky.

”Hey Will who are these two” Josh asked. The Spartan cocked his head as if to talk into his comm microphone. Then the two over Spartans looked at him, nodded and turned around to search the jackal bodies for weapons.

“Well” Josh queried

“ They are Vicky-501 and Nick-502” Will replied no emotion in his voice.

“I thought that there were no other Spartans apart from you” Josh said confused.

“They are second Generation Spartans III” Will said

“Second generation?” Josh asked

“Advanced Spartan III that can go from start to finished product in 1 month, There new SPI mark III Armour incorporates the new elite shielding and light bending device , Also there are new drugs to increase strength beyond the Spartan II's ability” Will said

“Wow how many are there” Josh said with a slight edge of awe in his voice.

“Just these 2” Will said

“Oh” Josh said slightly disappointed
“Anyway enough chatter we should move out” Josh asked


“Shouldn't we wait for the Elites to arrive , It wont be long”Will said

“No we need to keep moving” Josh said over his shoulder as he moved down the corridor towards the door at the other end of the corridor. Will over took him taking the lead with the over two strange spartans. They all unlicked there safety catches on there silenced Br-55 battle rifles. The hacking machine failed again on the door.
“Looks like were going to have to blow this door” Will said

“Or press this button saying open” Josh said slightly amused. The spartan
nodded and pressed it,

The room the door opened into was large and bare like a empty hanger. There was a strange mist in the air which made it hard to see the other wall. The other thing was the smell of methane.

“Grunts must be in the next room”Will said
It took them 20 minutes to reach the other side. After 5 minutes they had to engage there internal air supply to stop them from dying from methane poisoning.
There was a enormous door that led onto the rest of the facility.

“I'll open it ” Josh said and went over to the door controls . The rest of the ODSTs went to each side of the door while the Spartans vanished into the air.
Josh pressed the button to open the door. Clunk, Hisssssssss and the door sprung open.

Josh got a brief glimpse of the room beyond before a pack of grunts opened fire with plasma pistols. He sprinted out of the doorway while plasma bolts flew past behind him. While Josh did this the two ODSTs that stood on either side of the door opened fire mowing down 10 grunts before they ran out of ammo. By the time Josh had reached cover the ODSTs had finished of the other grunts.

“Thanks” Josh said. The two ODSTs nodded there heads. The squad moved into the room. It was empty of enemy troops but there was a sheild wall with a squad of 20 marines behind it.

There was one living on Earth when Truth first landed on Earth.
No one knows if she is alive or not.

Also, Kelly, and the other Spartans on Onyx didn't get teleported to a shield world.
They are currently inside a Dyson Sphere, which in normal space is very small, but on the inside very large.
And S-IIIs were strictly classified, and only sent on suicide or near suicide missions.
Only a handful of them are left, and they are in the Dyson sphere.
From what I remember, the S-III project was dumped too.
And they wear different armor than S-IIs.
Theirs has cloaking instead of shielding.

were you reading it thoroughly i did say that they had different armour.

dyson sphere and sheild world are the same things but with different names.

also they are 2nd generation spartans not spartans III there is a difference.

Chapter 3

But these marines were not normal. They all looked half starved and had long dirty hair on their head and chins. Some were unconscious or dead and the rest had deep gashes that had not been healed.
The room smelled horrible. Joshua moved over to them. It appeared that none of them had the strength to call out.

Gunfire suddenly rang out, Josh looked around none of his squad was firing. But there was flashing of a Br-55 muzzle. But these flashes seemed to be in mid-air with no-one holding the gun.It took Josh a few seconds to work out It was one of the invisible Spartans firing at the shield generator. The spartan that was firing suddenly materialized.
“Easy Vicky” Wills voice said. The spartan called Vicky stopped firing but the shield was down. The squad moved over to the soldiers.

Josh ran over to the man with the worst wounds. Josh identified this soldier by a name stenciled onto his helmet.
“Come on Stenson sit up” Josh said. The soldier groaned but did not move.


“Ok Squad sit these poor guys against the wall in a line” Will said. The ODST squad moved them to the wall and started repairing the damage. They filled up all the none healed wounds with biofoam which made the smell less worse.

None of the soldiers were dead but 2 were in critical condition. All they could do with there field med kits was keep them alive. Will came over to Josh and informed him that a full medical team was on their way and would be on the scene in 15 minutes.
“Food” Stenson murmured. Then it dawned on Josh. These guys must be starving. He got out his nutrients pack and opened it. He pulled out a bar , yanked of the wrapping and offered to Stenson. The Man slowly raised a hand and took the bar, then he ate the whole bar in two bites. Stenson ate all the contents of his nutrients pack. By the end he looked much better and managed to stand up despite the fact that half his torso had been burned away.
“Stay seated a full medical team is on there way” Josh said to soldier. Stenson grunted and sat down again. Stenson was not the only marine that had stood up. In fact some were up and exeriseing their weakened muscles.Will came over to him.
“Can any fight” Josh asked
“5 have no injuries and will be ready to fight in 10 minutes”Wills said. Good Josh thought. The next 15minues was spent waiting for the soldiers to recover. With ordinary food it would take about a day for the marines to recover. But with there special nutrients bars this process took a fraction of the time.

Then the medical team arrived in force. 50 army doctors arrived with supplies everything from more food to portable organ growing units. The doctor rushed over to them. 20 of them moved to the critically injured marines. The head doc came over to Will and Josh.

“It's going to take awhile to move these lads back to the pelican” The doc said

“We don't have that long, get the ones capable of fighting cleaned and clothed asap” Will said

“Ok” the doc said. Within 5 minuted the 5 marines capable of fighting had been shaved, cleaned by a modified cryo pod and clothed in new ODST Armour. They now looked like they were at a formal ceremony. The ODSTs equipped them with spare MA5Cs.

"You ODSTs get all the cool gear" One of the marines said

"Yeah this Armour is very comfy" Another marine said slyly.

"And comes with loads of cool gadgets" The first marine said

"Cut the chatter" Will said over the comm.

“Silence is now not necessary So lets go in all guns blazing"

"OOH-RAA" The ODST squad shouted.

"Ok, Move out" Will said[/color]

This is awesome, another Halo fan fiction, I like how the spartans in this seem almost robotic in their following orders, in my fan fic, I keep it privy to the lead spartan's personal thoughts, I try not to make them seem invincible, and yet, I want them to be badass, but anyway, keep it up, i want to know what's up with those captive marines! And, I just wanna point out, to everyone saying "aww, these spartans shouldn't be here!" it's a fan fiction, it doesn't have to be strictly perfect to the story, so long as it doesn't completely and utterly f*** things up, it's fine by me.

Chapter 4

The Squad moved through the old facility quietly even though stealth was not needed. They had been moving through this facility for best part of an hour and some of the ODSTs and marines were running out of patience.

"How much longer" One of the rescued marines asked wearily.

"There are 5 floors left to get through" Will said

"Oh good, What are we looking for exactly" the Marine queried.

"Old forerunner technology that the elites can use"

"Oh great i am risking my life to get technology for a load of spit lips" The marine said sarcastically.

"Pretty much, Now shut up and keep moving" Josh said grumpily obviously in no mood to talk. They moved on in silence. After another 15 minutes of silence and two floors they met some 'resistance' if you could call 2 grunts chatting resistance. The squad moved on in silence past the 2 grunt bodies. As they continued on Will noticed that 5 ODSTs had started lagging behind. Guessing who the 5 were he opened a com channel to them. Instead of telling them of for slacking he told them to take it easy. Alerting the ODSTs to the state of the marines he declared a 10 minute rest. They all sat down putting there backs against the wall having a rest and eating.

Joshua made his way over to will and sat next to him. No one took of there helmets in a hostile environment so Joshua just opened his visor and looked at Will.

"Want something to eat" Josh asked holding out a nutrients bar.

" No keep it for yourself you will need it" Will said sternly.

"Theres plenty to go around" said josh

"I'm not hungry" Will said. This was a lie and they both new it. Josh could here Wills tummy rumbling. Josh dug around in his nutrients pack and pulled out a bar wrapped in pink. He undid the wrapper. The smell of well cooked bacon wafted towards Will.

"You totally sure " Josh asked waving the bar in front of Will.

"Oh sod it" Joked Will and snatched the bar out of Joshes hand. He then opened his visor and josh saw his face.
He had a average face by all accounts. He wasn't attractive and he wasn't ugly. His face wasn't angular but it wasn't round either. He had standard brown hair cut to regulation length . The thing that caught joshes attention the most was his eyes. They were yellow not bright yellow but certainly yellow. The eyes always freaked josh out even after he had seen them a hundred times he could not get used to them. Then his features disappeared as he wolfed down the bar and sighed in pleasure.

"Better Josh asked. WIlliam just grunted and slid a bit further down the wall. Josh looked around, the ODSTs were watching Will as well. Josh bet his gear that that none of them had ever seen a spartan drop off during a mission. As he looked around he saw the strange Spartans on lookout duty. They were tense ready to jump at any moment he wondered if they had ever seen Will drop of in a hostile zone. As the ten minutes went by he noticed Will wasn't the only one succumbing to sleep. The 5 freed Marines were sprawled on the floor there chests rising and falling slowly. The ODSTs were sitting there being very professional and talking to each other in low voices. As the ten minutes came to a close Josh got up and shook Will lightly hr was up in flash weapon out ready to fight. He soon relaxed and went over to wake up the marines who all got up a lot slower and grumbling. When they were fully awake the squad moved out. Heading right into trouble.
