sounds good to me, possibly the captain Roran served under that got demoted and got roran whipped.

Especially now that they're in Surda, it would be very easy for the Galby to send a spy. It seems unlikely though, because all of Galby's tactical haven't shown he knows what the Varden are planing. At least not exactly.

Hey guys, are you forgeting that Galbatorix does have spies in the varden, THE BLACK HAND, no one is able to find all of their members, so whos to say one of the BLACK HAND is not close to Nasuada or Orrin?

It makes sense as his way resulted in the death of many more people than Roran's group. However, you forget that in another missions, he seemed to be quite good.

Personally, if there is another spy (similar to the twins), I think it's a character that will be new and we haven't seen before, or perhaps a character that we've read about but only a bit.

There is more likely than not a spy in the Varden, but I don't see why they should have a large role.

except for constant assasianation attempts on all the varden's leaders, and taking up the Du Vrangr Gata's time by hunting for them. not to mention poisoning wells, food and generally wreaking havoc amongst the varden. Also, Eragon & Oromis agreed that the only reason they hadn't done this yet was that Surda wasn't a big enough threat & didn't openly oppose the empire

It seems like they are setting it up for their to be a spy. SOmeone like Angela or Triana. Someone that is always helping out.

Not Angela. CP said she was just put in so she couldn't be a spy. Trianna may be the spy but then why would she help Nasuada so much in finding the members of the Black Hand? I'm sure there are spies though, other than the Black Hand.

Perhaps Trianna was building Nasuada's trust in her? It has been done before. It would explain why she was interested in Eragon (apart from the obvious reason of personal gain).
