Yeah, I am a huge fan of the Cirque Du Freak books, and I was wondering why a topic didn't already exist. If I missed something, please direct me to the existing topic.

I've read the first one and thought it was pretty good, but I haven't gotten around to reading any of its sequels. It was quite awhile ago, so I'll probably re-read the first one before I continue onwards. I thought it was pretty original. Isn't there a movie being made?

I really liked them up until the ending, which I hated and pretty much tainted the entire series for me for ages.
Really? I loved the end! Well, i guess everyone's opinions are different.

I thought it was really good, actually. The Vampire Culture was interesting and I really liked a lot of the characters, especially Vancha and Mr. Crepsley. And I was genuinely sad when Mr. Crepsley died. The action was done well, and I really did get a feeling of "Epicness" with regards to the story. I also really liked the outlook on combat and hatred, I really liked how Darren started out as being intent on being "really civil", developed a taste for bloodshed and realises eventually that it isn't the way forwards. I also thought Kurda Smahlt was a very interesting character philosophy-wise, at least, by the standards of Teenage Literature.
That said there were a few things I didn't like. Kurda travelling in time to become Harkat was pretty cheap, and also, I find that Darren is very poor at building false suspense. He has a habit of describing really big moments at the end of chapters, which meant that when he announced the appearance of the Decoy Vampaneze Lord right in the middle of a chapter, I knew right from the start he was a fake.

9 O'clock, and you paint the skies gray, it's not your fault, we're the ones who betray
But how can you say with such ease, want to take a stand, or you just want to please?
Your bedtime story is scaring everyone. You help me understand the evil that men do.

I've read the entire Saga, and I love it. Darren Shan is brilliant in portraying nervousness, exept when he revealed something big in mid chapter -.- I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. And I loved the ending. I think that it showed that Darren Shan wasn't afraid to try something completley new, and turn the story upsidedown, he dared to write of which no one expected. That, in my opinion is something impressive.

I really like these books. I stopped reading them altogether when Mr Crepsley died, I was too upset to read any more. I read the others around a year after, and I'm of two minds on the ending. I liked it, it was original and shocking, but it really did make the stories redundant.
Also, the bit with Steve being the Vampanese Lord was pretty easy to see coming.

I saw it a few chapters into Hunters of The Dusk. I love the series, I couldn't put the books down for a second. The plot was really thick, yet uncomplicated. And despite some weaknesses like predictability, it's a strong series all in. I like the motives of the characters in the Vampire Saga are all intertwined in the plot, the Vampaneze fight because Mr. Tiny said they would be destroyed if they didn't, the vampires fight back so as not to be destroyed by Vampaneze, Darren fights Steve in order to stop the lord of the shadows, Steve fights because Mr. Tiny told him that he is destined to be lord of the shadows. One persons actions determine anothers motive and vise versa, genius isn't it?
by the way, should I spoiler any of that?
