Glaedr and Colby: Life of a Ball Python

It’s quite a simple life.
Being a Ball Python has some ups and downs.
Well all you reading this are very lucky!
I will be taking you into the world of my Ball Pythons; Glaedr and Colby, through their eyes…
**
Ahh, life is sweet, just lying around all day.
Curled up in my cozy hide out.
Hmmm, I wonder what I should do today.
I could soak in the cool water in the water dish.
Or, I could just hang out on the log!
I wonder what Colby is up to, today.
I think I will go and see her.

Glaedr slithered out of his hide out, tasting the air with his tongue.
He slowly continued inside another hide out, right beside his own.
The female, pastel Ball Python, Colby, was curled up snuggly inside.
Glaedr slithered over her thick body and curled up inside the hole she made with her body.
Colby lifted her head up and flicked out her tongue at his nose, tasting his scent.
Heya Colby!
Hello little one.
How is my favorite pal doing?
I’m doing very well, thank you.
You’re welcome, my sweet.
Aha.
She touched her nose against his.
Is it feeding day yet? I’m starving.
Haha, one more day Glaedr.
Oh, right! I forgot it’s on Fridays.
Colby chuckled and let out a yawn.
I hope our owner takes us out later! I want to crawl around.
She probably will, always does at night time.
Awesome! I hope so.
Glaedr eyed her for a moment; her eyes sparkled back at him like diamonds.
I am really glad to know such an amazing pythoness like you!
Colby turned her head to face Glaedr and nuzzled her cheek against his.
And I, am very glad to know such a cute python like you, Glaedr.
Oh, thank you.
You are most welcome, my little one.
Glaedr’s head perked up and he opened his mouth slightly, trying to copy a smile.
Colby laughed deeply, her head bobbing with joy.
Long, thin, pointy teeth flashed from Glaedr’s mouth.
Glaedr soon found himself laughing along with her.
Both of them smiled at each other, bearing white fangs, and curled up closer.
Glaedr laid his head on Colby’s lower neck.
Colby looked at him sweetly and rested her head gently on top of his.
I love you Colby.
And I, you, Glaedr.
They snuggled up close to each other and rested for the day.
**
There you have it.
My two Ball Pythons love to cuddle up with each other.
They like to keep each other safe in a warm embrace.

The End.

Here are some facts about my beloved snakes;

Glaedr – He loves to be held, he is amazingly sweet and friendly. He has a great temper and is all around, a very happy little guy. He is now 8 months old, I got him when he was just 2 months.
He will be one year old in October.
He has shed a total of 11 times since the day I got him. He is 2’4” long, and feeds on live adult mice. Glaedr is the best snake in the world.

Colby – She is a very beautiful snake. She can be a bit on edge some days, but she is also a very sweet girl. She is a pastel (morph). I got her at 4 months of age as a replacement for another female Ball Python I had that passed away from refusing to eat.
She is a whopping 2’10” (she just shed recently so I may have to add on another inch or two!).
She is now 10 months old, she will be 1 year in August. She currently feeds on live adult mice too, but is capable to eat small rats (will put her on them soon).
Colby is definitely the most beautiful snake in the world.

*Some day I hope to breed these two amazing snakes, possibilities for their babies could be;
Pastel
Normal
Normal het Pastel

**I will be writing a 2nd story to go with this one**

Glaedr and Colby: Life of a Ball Python - Feeding Day

Feeding day is pretty easy.
They each get one adult mouse.
The female likes to play with hers before actually eating it.
She is a very good hunter though.
I sometimes just throw the mouse in the tank and let her chase it.
Glaedr on the hand, he usually takes a moment to smell his food.
After that happens, he strikes it and coils around, to kill it.
Anyways, here is their story of feeding day;
**
Oh boy! It's feeding day!!!
Hehehe, I can't wait to sink my teeth into that mouse!!!
Glaedr, don't forget I'm hungry too, stop teasing.
I'm sorry Colby; it's just that I love my food.
Colby giggled and slid her forked tongue out, tasting the air.
Hmm, I hope that mouse is nice and fat.
Colby!
What?
Now you're teasing me!
Aha, it appears I am. Sorry.
Ah it's alright.
Glaedr lifted his head up and looked around.
I think the mice are here!!!
How do you know?
Because! Usually they are here when the sun angles off to the left in this room!
And?
Look!
He was right; the lighting was angling off to the left.
Just then, the owner came in the room holding a small box.
Ooooh boy!
Glaedr stretched his neck all the way out, touching the glass doors of the tank.
"Hello buddy!" said the owner.
Colby too stretched her neck out.
"Wow, you guys must be hungry!"
Duh.
Colby nudged Glaedr with her tail.
What?!
Be nice.
I was only joking.
Sure.
The owner opened the cage door.
Opening up the box, the owner used a pair of metal tongs to pick up... a mouse.
Glaedr's tail wiggled with joy.
"Here you go bud"
The owner dangled the mouse in front of Glaedr's mouth.
With a snap, he bit into the mouse, while coiling around it.
"Your turn big girl"
Colby coiled up her neck a bit, preparing to strike at the mouse.
The owner took out a second mouse and this time; let it run in the cage.
Oh I see, I have to play tag with my food first!
Glaedr let out a muffled giggle, now starting to swallow his prey.
The mouse darted behind the log, shivering in fear.
Yes, you should be terrified of me!
Colby cornered the mouse between the water dish, and log.
Crying for help, the mouse tried to scratch at Colby's face.
Colby was getting very agitated.
She hissed deeply at the mouse.
I'll teach you to harm me!!
Colby built up her neck muscles, coiled back again and...SQUEAK!
She hit the mouse right in the head.
Her sharp teeth protruded into its skull, paralyzing the mouse.
Colby wrapped tightly around the mouse, squeezing the last bit of life from it.
**
Glaedr and Colby finished eating their prey.
Ahh, that mouse was delicious!
Sure was.
Colby slithered inside of her hide out, hiccupping here and there.
Glaedr giggled and followed her.
When Colby was coiled up snuggly inside, Glaedr poked his head in the opening.
Colby?
She looked at him with one, sparkling eye.
Yes, little one?
May I cuddle up with you?
Colby turned her head and moved slightly to make room.
Of course you can.
Thank you.
Colby nodded and tightened her body around Glaedr, sharing the warmth coming from the heat pad.

The End.
**
So, there ends another good story about my Pythons.
Yes, they really do love their food.
They eat on Friday afternoons and usually do what I explained in the story, strike and coil.
If you have any questions about my Pythons, feel free to ask me.
I also know quite a bit about other reptiles too.

Thank you for reading.

*Story may continue in part 3*

Caiman Tails

It was pitch-black all around.
The cool river water was calm, and still.
Thick, sticky mud was smeared over in places on the shore.
Moonlight spilled all over the water, leaving shadows where the trees grew.
Crickets chirped peacefully in the distance.
Bats flew low over the clear water, snapping up moths that were foolish enough to fly by.
In the middle of the lake, schools or small fish and Carp swam.
All was quiet, all was relaxing.
At least until two round semi-circular shapes appeared on the surface of the water.
They disappeared for a moment.
A seagull landed in the middle of the river, trying to catch a fish.
POW!
Out of the water, snapped a fourteen-foot long Caiman.
The bird squawked with fear.
The Caiman chomped its' jaws down on the bird's leg.
Now flapping its' wings frantically, the bird put up a fight.
The Caiman just ignored the bird's fussing and twisted its head from side to side.
The bird stopped for a moment to take a breath, but that was enough to give the Caiman some momentum.
The Caiman opened its jaws, moving forward, and slammed them shut on the bird's neck, killing it instantly.
Satisfied, the Caiman tilted its head back, and the bird slid all the way into its mouth.
Licking its lips, the Caiman slid back under the surface of the water, unseen.
It swam over to the shore and slowly crawled onto the mud.
The Caiman went and lied under a low branch from a tree.
Closing its eyes, the Caiman sank into a shallow sleep.

The End.

*There will be a 2nd story*

I merged all these topics into one topic in Poetry Cafe because it is more of a poem that tells a story.
