Thank you!
I’m so glad you like them! You make me like them again, myself! (For I usually hate a picture, once it’s finished. Friends used to rescue them before I could destroy them.)
The “lady with the dress” as you call her, is a character of a story I wrote some time ago. She’s supposed to be that way. I made her face look like a mask, because she keeps it like a mask. She doesn’t show any hint of feeling, emotion. Maybe… have you noticed the banner above her head? It seems to emerge into a wolf. I hadn’t intended that. A friend told me.
The mountains. Oh, I had a hard time doing the mountains. They took me a while. You won’t believe, when you look at them, but they’re really, really difficult to do.
The Greif, gryphon, griphon… let’s say gryphon… The gryphon’s wing. I made it that way, so you can see the head. If I’d made it like the original one, with all the details and “strong” color, you wouldn’t see the head right away. That’s why it’s different and pale in the background. It’s a mistake I made by composing the picture.
The raven. I, as a child, had a daw for a friend. Every time I would visit her in the palace garden next to where I live, she would call out my name. I can’t remember much from my childhood, but this’s one thing I do remember. Of course a daw looks slightly different than a raven, but the face and the sparkling in these golden-yellow eyes, that is much the same.
Normally I do not change anything on them by computer. That’s the reason sometimes the photos or scans of them look worse than the original.
Only the small ones, the raven and the dragons, which I used for a website, had to be adjusted. As I said, the dragons were put on the same sheet of paper. The Raven and the ornament were two different drawings, too.
What inspires them? Well… most of them emerge in my head, in my thoughts, as you will. That’s the reason I’m writing, singing, painting, to get those pictures and tales out of my head. Sometimes I even feel like the characters I do, would tell me what exactly I had to do and what I did wrong. It’s awful… Some other are simply inspired of what I used to know. The eyes of the raven, f.e. or the mountains, ok that one wasn’t, but it would’ve been possible, since I live near the mountains. If the weather’s right, I can see them rise in the distance…
Again. Thank you for commenting!
