I thought I'd upload some draings I've done recently, and I'll probably be drawing quite a lot this summer so it might become a regular.

First, drawings from my imagination. I'm not usually good at these but I'm getting better and I sketched these representations of the Beor beasties really quickly yesterday...

Feldunost

Nagra

Shrrg

And yes the Shrrg is just a wolf yes.gif but that's how the book describes it, just bigger...
Then I drew Murtagh from a photo. Observation is more my forte...

My scanner didn't like them so they look a tad weird, but hey what can you do.
Hope you like, criticism is more than welcome thumbup.gif
I might draw more characters but I started with Murtagh because I think he's most accurately portrayed in the cycle (looks-wise and otherwise).

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl,
girl dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Oh I LIKE the Feldunost! So sweet! thumbup.gif

But for Murtagh you simply took a picture of the actor, am I right?

Hm... never noticed before... A Shrrg is a direwolf, is a wolf, is... "Just because you call a long-eared short-tailed lagomorphic mammal with long hind legs a “smeerp” doesn’t make it alien."-"calling a rabbit a smeerp", Vonda N. McIntyre
Someone should tell that all these intelligent fantasy-authors out there. Yes, Chris. I'm talking to YOU. coffee.gif

Loibere risen von den boimen hin zu tal,

Blomen sich wisen daz se sint verturben al,

Please leave me a comment on my story. I tried to translate the first chapter.
Thanks and may there always be spirits to watch over you.

Glad you like it.

Yeah I drew Murtagh from a photo.

EDIT:
Well, I didn't take the photo, I just found it on the internet and drew the photo by hand. I just think, bad as the movie was, Murtagh looked quite cool and didn't contradict the book as much as some of the others *cough* arya *cough*.

I love the shading in Murtagh's clothes, though I can't see clearly his face. I agree, Murtagh was the most well portrayed character in the movie. But I think Joss Stone, who played Angela was the worst... No similarities at all. Ugh.

Almost forgot what those animals are. It JUST sounded familiar at first, then I remembered... They're Inheritance animals!! lol.gif I like Fuldenost btw. thumbsup.gif

Time is gold, and so is Glaedr. Does that mean time is dead too?

They're clickable thumbnails so just click if you want to see them bigger...
If they work that is, I haven't done this sort of thing before X.gif

QUOTE (VincentValentine @ Jul 13 2009, 01:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Nice job. The only problem I see are the eyes. They look a bit off.
The Shrrg is my favorite.
QUOTE

The shading around the right (his left) eye is too dark.
Nice details! People are a pain to draw!

I like your stuff. Keep updating!
If anyone is interested. I updated my art thread.

Thanks for all your comments! book.gif
Yeah I noticed the eye too. Thing is, once it looked as good as it does now I didn't want to potentially mess it up by re-doing the eye. Usually I'd hate observational drawings not being precise, and I can spend ages getting something right, but with people I just get so pleased that they at least look like people tongue.gif
Thanks for the critique though, it's useful for future drawings.

I drew this one of Arya based mainly on Kate Beckinsale (who, by the way, would make a great Arya in my opinion) and the clothes are based on Tifa's outfit in FFVII Advent Children. It's not perfect, and again the scanning highlight the worse bits, but I spent most of my time trying to make her as pretty as she's supposed to. Hope you like it sleep.gif

You draw people like an expert! And I can't do that even if it takes years! Arya looked like a Filipina celeb. Haha. I thought Arya's hair's straight?

Hmm. I would agree with you on the hair, but for a couple of points:
1. In the prologue of Eragon, Arya's eyes are described as being 'framed by black locks', which makes me think of curls.
2. When they go to Ellesmera, Arya foregoes her headband and her hair 'tumbles around her face and shoulders'. Again, I see curls.
Thanks very much for the comment, I wouldn't call myself an expert though sleep.gif flattered

Back to drawing from my inagination, I did this quick doodle in under an hour of the first time Eragon and Saphira meet Oromis and Glaedr. It's yellow because the colour of the pages in this sketchbook are yellow.

Crags of Tel'naeir

Most of the proportions are off and the detailing isn't great but it's not bad for a quick sketch. I'm thinking of simplifying the lines and painting it in water colour, adding detail into the background. What do we reckon?

Took a break from Inheritance and wanted to improve my proportions, as well as drawing living things so I drew some pokemon :

Not perfect but it got a little confusing towards the end. Currently colouring it to break out the new pencils D.gif

Enjoy!

Thanks for the nice comments sleep.gif
I use a 2B pencil mostly, but I went round the individual pokemon with a fineliner afterwards so that you could tell them apart easier.

I coloured it, but I warn you, I'm colourblind so parts of it may look a little weird tongue.gif
For example, I don't really know what colour the Aerodactyl (big flying thing at the top) is, but it looks alright to me. Dodgy tactics for a colourblind guy but I was getting bored...
And the scanner picks up more of the crappy sketchbook detail because it isn't just line drawing

Hope you like!

Looks a bit chaotic to be quite honest...I feel rather lost.
Very colourful, though. That part I like.
