Well I just looked up the plot on Amazon and it looks pretty interesting. Mayhaps I'll start the first couple of books next time I go to the books store. I love books with vampyres in it. Especially if they spell it like that because it just looks cool.
I'll have an appletini, easy on the tini.

Oh, where do I even begin with this series...?
In theory, the plot sounded pretty interesting. In reality, the story was repetitive, unoriginal, unimaginative, and the main character, Zoey, was an uber Mary Sue (Character chosen by the goddess to do something great and gifted with epic super powers that no one else in existence has? Hmm, where have I seen that before?). I almost forgot that they were teenage vampyres in a special academy for them at all except when they pulled out their fangs and magical powers because there was literally nothing else that set them apart from normal human teenagers (except for, well, the blue crescent tattoo on their forehead that "marked" them as a vampyre, but Zoey's is unique too). As for the antagonist of the first book? Also unimpressive; think skanky, mean, popular, rich girl with the cliques and stuff that causes tons of havoc for the new girl, and you get the idea. And for the rest of the series, it is like "what the heck just happened?!" every few pages, but at the same time, you can't really say you hadn't seen it coming. The entire series was kind of like watching a car crash, it is awful, but you just can't make it stop.
I'm not saying that I hadn't seen worse. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Actually quite a few. And maybe I didn't come across that way in the Twilight thread, but I did like Twilight. There were just a couple of major things that bothered me about it.
The main problem I had with House of Night was that there really wasn't any fresh ideas. I didn't see anything original about the series that made it stand out from any other book under that genre. I believe the plot could have been great with a few adjustments and a rewrite of most of the main characters, but then again, all books could've been great that way.

I was thinking of trying them out cause I see them pop up when I look up other books. Is it worth a read? Like, are they at ALL enjoyable to read?

I never thought that I might have to do this, but here goes. I am going to do something totally unusual, defend a book series more designed for younger girls (12 - 15yrs old) from younger girls (12 - 15yrs old). This is just my impression of the book, take it however you like.
This series is a rather fun read. Even though it is short, I do not believe it needs any more development. I originally bought this book because I thought it might stand out from the usual Vamp books and I was right and wrong. It starts out with the twist that younger marked vamps that haven't, yet aged to adulthood and fully transformed, adult, vamps can walk out in the sun with only minor pangs of discomfort. Eventually, there is a "new" breed of vamps that truly are the vamps of legend, burst into flames if the sun touches you "true."
They live in our world just like we are now except, they get physically and emotionally excited drinking blood, go figure. The book itself is short but to the point. It allows the reading a more positive light of the Vamp community, if it were real, kind of like True Blood ( the television show). Plus the main character, Zoey, is just like any other run-of-the-mill high school newcomer prep girl that everybody adores. So, I don't understand why there is a girl who hates it so much? Care to fill me in more?
P.S. Just one request.... no biting feeling kinda quezzy today.
