The night air was moist and cold around the Spring Path. Bidoof happily slept with their families in dens, while groups of Hoothoot scoured the sky, searching for food. All was calm and quiet, at least so it seemed.
A small Ralts jumped up and cooed mysteriously at a rumbling sensation in the ground. It shivered in fear as a mighty roar pierced the air, causing Pidgey and Skarmory to squawk in panic. The Ralts was standing in front of the entrance to the Spring Path, ducking low to the ground, shaking all over. A Skarmory flew over to the little pokemon and threw its wing over the Ralts, protecting it from a giant, six-legged pokemon that leaped over them as if they weren’t there. The colossal pokemon roared once more and leaped into the air, changing forms into a very narrow and more aerodynamic shape, flying off towards Stark Mountain.
**
The pokemon flew endlessly into the night, flying higher than the mighty Rayquaza, roaring and crying out into the night air. It thought deep about its true purpose on earth, why it was there, and how it can help to keep the pokemon world a great place to be.
Many hours passed and it was nearly dawn when the mysterious pokemon landed on the very tip of Stark Mountain. It sagged down onto its stomach and sighed. It thought a lot about itself, and who it was. It didn’t have many friends, if any at all, and it wished it could belong.
Why am I even here? I don’t feel I have much of a special purpose at all, and I’m just a big, powerless pokemon…
The pokemon shot its head up as it heard a calm growling sound from up above. It was the legendary pokemon and god of all dragon types; Rayquaza. It came down beside the other pokemon and rested softly on the rocky mountain top, coiling itself into a ball with its head resting on its thick body.
What seems to be the problem Giratina?
Giratina seemed shocked that this pokemon knew its name, and even more so that it was willing to listen to it speak.
Well, I have been thinking about my true purpose here on earth, and I’m really feeling blue…I have little friends, and not many pokemon like to see me coming, they either faint, scream and run, or panic and dive into their homes or in the nearest hiding spot.
Hmm, that is a problem. But I would be more than happy to be your friend.
Rayquaza smiled sweetly and wrapped its tail around Giratina’s shoulders.
Thanks Rayquaza; that means a lot to me.
No problem. As for your other problem, you do have a purpose, and that is being the god of ghost pokemon, and just showing others that you are really a nice being, and I am truly glad to be your friend.
Giratina felt a foolish smile tug at its lips, also blushing. Rayquaza giggled and looked out over the towering mountain. Giratina looked at the moon and saw a deer-like pokemon with a strange, long head and yellow coloured bone-like linings around its stomach.
Do you see that pokemon in the moon?
Rayquaza looked as well, and only caught a small glimpse of it before it turned away, and vanished into thin air.
Yeah, I did see it. I wonder what it was.
Beats me, it’s probably just something weird looking for attention.
Well, I hope you enjoyed our chat and I will see you around.
Aw, you’re leaving already?
Yes, I have to go, I need to check on Kyogre and Groudon, make sure they aren’t fighting again, you know how they are.
Ha, yeah I guess that’s a good idea. Well thanks for this talk and I will definitely be seeing you!
Sounds good, toodles!
Rayquaza gave a roar and flew up and off into the distance, spiraling around like a swimming snake. Giratina let out a long sigh and got to its feet. It smiled at the thought of what Rayquaza had said, and he was pleased that he had a true friend and wanted to make more friends. Turning to the east, Giratina launched itself off the giant rocky ledge and flew back to the Spring Path.
The same little Ralts was sitting outside of Giratina’s home, waiting for it to show up. Giratina landed right in front of the Ralts with a massive thud and a blast of wind which made the Ralts topple over. Giratina gasped and grabbed onto the tiny pokemon, saving it from a nasty fall down a small ledge. Giratina sat the pokemon gently in its hand and smiled adoringly.
You are a very cute little pokemon, and it’s nice to see you too.
The Ralts cooed happily and hugged Giratina on its massive snout, purring and murmuring to itself. Giratina felt a tear come to its eye as it realized it made another friend.
If you ever need help, little one, just call for me, and I promise to protect you anyway I can.
The Ralts jumped up and down and clapped its hands together, which activated the move; charm, and a serge of happy energy burst through Giratina.
Thank you little one. I must go now, so you be good and I’ll see you soon, Ok.
Ralts nodded and Giratina placed it gently back on the soft ground. Turning away, it heard the Ralts start to cry behind it. Slowly turning back around, Giratina picked up the little Ralts and took it with itself, into its home.
The End
Giratina is a very powerful pokemon, it can have an absolute max HP of 505, which is incredibly high. In this story, Giratina was shown who it really was and where it belonged among the many pokemon in the world. I hope you enjoyed this short story and there will be more to follow very soon!
