MKAY. hi hows everyone?

SO I read Catching Fire( yes the sequel to Hunger Games) by Susan Collins a couple of days ago...NOW, I thought I would make a new post for the sequel so that those of us who have read it already may discuss futur events of the trilogy, without disturbing the ones who (although I dont know why) havent read it yet.

My number one concerns.

1. That Peeta might be tortured and killed whilst in the hands of the Capitol.
2. What happened to District 12. (Im thinking an uprising that led to a massive blowup...just thinking)
3. That last paragraph in the book. I was really distrubed by this line. Its about Gale. Katniss says that Gale talks to her with the tone of an animal he tries to soothe before making the final blow. WOAH. hold up here. What the fudgesicle is that suppose to mean? It makes Gale seem sinical and as if he wants to kill her...I honestly thought he was going to kill her or somthing...

Ya. those are my thoughts. Elaborate if you have an opinion please!!

I've read it (obviously, cause I'm here)!!

Anyhow my thoughts:

1. I feel like...not that much was accomplished in the book. I mean, she gets back, but you still don't know if she likes Gale or Peeta. And then she's just sent back into the arena (dejavu). And then there's a rebellion and you find out district 13 is real. I just feel like she added alot of detail, and wrote alot without writing anything new

2. I did really really like it though

3. Hmm, I didn't pick up on that Gale thing at the end,but yah, I'm worried Peeta's gonna be tortured

Last, so what did you think about her going into the arena again? For me it was..weird. This book just seemed kind of less intense, cause it was more obvious she was going to survive..and I don't know, I felt there wasn't as much suspense. And having another arena seen just was strange, with it being so different from the first one...

I'm still undecided how I feel about where this book is going (but I can say, I never would have expected it to happen )

I really liked the book on a general note. It was amazing really.

mkayy. you know I kindof felt like that a bit. I did feel like hmm, in the arena again...okkkayy...
I felt like dejavu too, and at some parts, I was like, yeah okay so they re trying to stay alive..like the other book...hmm.. I agree that going back to the arena wasnt the greatest idea, and I SURE hope she doesnt end up there AGAIN in the next book. I would sh*t a brick house.
I found the mecanism of the arena was cool though. Thats quite the imaginative kind of thing. I mean it was a cool arena....

I thought for sure the District 13 matter was going to be true. But I never expected The Gamemaker to be involved at all...

The part near the end starting from Katniss and Johanna leaving Volts, Peeta and Finnick, to the part where she wakes up in the air craft,
WOAH.
I think I read it in a milli second... Or it felt like that My brain was sprinting on a treadmill when hes only equipped to walk. I had to re-read that part....I thought at first the other Careers had cut the line. Then I thought Johanna was trying to kill her and took off with the other careers. Then by the end I thought Volts was the mastermind who betrayed everyone, then seeing Finnick with Enoghgjnfdgb(whatever her name is) I thought he betrayed.
It was SO confusing.

one more little thing. Haymitches EXTREME bitchyness at the end. She just went through this HUGE thing that I could barely read without busting a vein, and hes treating her like crap.

as for peeta... I sure hope that if distric 13 can keep capitol off their backs they can save Peeta...

^^ The mechanisms were definitely cool with the whole arena and stuff, never would have thought of that (of course..i probably never would have thought of any of this, but that's besides the point )

Yah, the District 13 thing was definitely gonna be true, just by all the foreshadowing. For some reason it reminded me a little of the Uglies trilogy. As for the gamemaker, I don't really know. While I was reading it, I didn't really give it much thought, but looking back, the fact that he flashed a mockingjay sign kinda shows he's in the rebellion..so if I thought about it, I might have put it together (but I was kind of more focused on finishing the book)

Yah, that whole end part just made my head spin! I still don't think I fully understand it ..so I'll probably have to reread it (but start with Hunger Games) and read it slowly so I can catch all the details I missed while zoom reading. But yah! I read it several times..trying to figure out what the rope was, how it was cut, who cut it, what Johanna was doing and I didn't even think of the arrow into the forcefield until she did it, so then I had to reread it and see where she got the idea from ..confusing, which suprises me cause Collins normally writes very descriptively and clearly...

I know!! Haymitch is...ugh! I mean, I would definitely be completely FREAKING OUT if I went through that...and the fact that she wasn't expecting any of that, and the fact that Haymitch kind of betrayed her by letting Peeta be taken by the Capitol, you would think it would warrent some kindness from him..but no, he acts like she's an idiot, which she definitely isn't. But, I guess that's Haymitch

As for Peeta. I'm sure he's not going to die, because him being in danger adds to the suspense. For some reason, I can in the 3rd book, Katniss creating a plan to rescue Peeta and it being a very close call..

As for which team. I don't know!! I like both. I love Peeta cause he's just so sweet and kind and what not. But I also like Gale because he gets Katniss with her hunting stuff, plus he's the underdog, and I tend to go for the underdog. I wish we had gotten to see more of Gale and what he's like, and I wish there were parts, where you could see Gale next to Peeta. What's your view on that?

Yea samme. I was definately too occupied to finish the book... to notice the mokingjay thing on his watch or why he would show her it. But I was also occupied thinking ew. he sounds like a gross old man and why is she dancing with him....: / lol...

Ugh. Haymitch hes hot and hes cold, hes yes and hes no, in, out...all that hullabaloo. Hes worse than a chick pms-ing. Seriously he goes through moodswings and its annoying But what I ant figure out if thats all partof his plan to be unoticed about 13...OR if hes just a wench like that well have to see ....

Mmm, yea. That was pretty sad what Peeta said about not having a life without her, and she realized shes the only one that cares... :/

Yess...I am undecided about this too, in a way im like you I always go for the underdog too. BUT Peeta really seems to be truly madly deeply, in love with her. And hes SUCH a sweetheart. Poor girl...thats a hard decision. But I think in the end I would want her with Gale....
Ugh, but then Peeta is like alone...
Its a difficult decision forrr sure..
But your right though. We should have seen more of Gale, because we know hes been there for the death of the daddys and stuff like that...And the hunting. And APPARENTLY hes handsome...but im wobbly about what kind of personality he really has....
As for Gale next to Peeta. Both good lookin...(apparently) Peeta is more of the mellow, sweetheart that will be there for the emotional ect.
Gale seems like the badass type a bit, you know the crazy one who goes out into the woods and is the bread-winner for the family...and he is capable of loving. Because I really think he loves Katniss...
And Katniss is just playing with them. Since she doesnt have Gale around shell actually use Peeta for emotional help )nightmares ect.) but when Gale is there...she seems to forget about Peeta (the whipping post)....

I don't know. I feel like Peeta is much more..steadier and dependable. He'd give up what he wants to protect and be with Katniss, while I think Gale is more headstrong and willing to leave Katniss if there's a good uprising. Also, only Peeta knows how it was during the Hunger Games and that must of bonded them. I feel bad for them I'm almost hoping one will get knocked out of the picture for an easier decision, but the thought of losing either of them is heartbreaking (more for Peeta, cause we know so much more about him).

Yah, I don't think Katniss knows her own mind. I think she's also kind of scared in finding out who she truly wants, because that would mean breaking the heart of the other- so I think she's kind of avoiding that mental confrontation. The only reason I'm not super mad at Katniss for toying with them is that 1. She truly does feel horrible and 2. She at least is letting them know that she doesn't truly know, and she's not committing to one by saying 'I love you' or anything.

Ugh, I can't believe we're gonna have to wait a year for the next one.


Hmm, I'm trying to think about what might happen in the third one, any ideas?

MMmm, all good points... I agree that Katniss fears to find out who she wants. Im not oobers mad at her because shes been through so much. And I can understand if life is too confusing to make a decision when the consequences and results are too vague right now....
Thats another thing. I think that Mr Snow or whatever, he would believe her, if she said I love You.
But if was a good choice not to...because thats toying too much...

UGH, I knowww RIGHTT?? Its like waiting for Book 4. The wait is going to be brutal.

Okay, third book...
Im positive we are going to be introduced to District 13. Which is going to be interesting...I think...
You know to be honest now that I think about it, she has made it quite difficult to guess what is going to happen.
Oviously,District 12 has been destroyed so well get the details of that. Im guessing were gonna hear about some vaguely important people who died..maybe Madge?

On hw its going to end.who she'll pick?..ect. im stumped. how about you?

Yah, she probably would have convinced Mr.Snow a little bit more if she said I love you, but I don't think he was actually going to let her go or whatever- she had already done too much damage. He was just trying to sidetrack her to avoid seeing how much of a rebellion she's already caused

Yah, I'll probably end up reading the series like 3 more times (at least) between now and the third book and every time get super hyped up for the 3rd..and then be let down cause I just have to wait more :/

Third Book:
-Yes, definitely District 13. That's probably going to take up a good bit of the beginning part. Katniss healing and just observing District 13 and getting a full explanation of what's going on
-And yah, she ended the book with no details or foreshadowing. Which is good, cause then you don't know, but which is also maddening cause you have to wait a year for ANY clue as to what is going to happen
-Yah, I was wondering whether Madge died or lived. hmm. I hope she lived. I can kinda see her and Gayle having a thing
-As for who she's going to pick. I have a feeling that it's going to end up being Peeta, just because of all she's been through with him. But I think, Gayle will end up with Madge (if she lives) so it won't be as heartbreaking.
-Oh, one other thing. I think that Katniss will end up going on a mission to save Peeta- and on that trip either get caught for a bit and then escape, or just have it end up being a really close call..cause she's just that kind of character, that will rashly go out to save someone without really thinking of the consequences..

Hmm, and I wonder what happened in the Capitol and everything when they broke the force field...

I finished the book a few days ago, and definitely one of the 10 best books I have read in my life, I LOVED IT! I think it perfectly set up the 3rd book, with the rebellion and stuff. The arena was so cool, and I loved all the new characters, like Beetee and Finnick.

I really want to know what happened to Cinna, it's bothering me. And same with Peeta, why did he have to be captured by the Capitol?!?!

Ah, I can't wait a whole year! I want the next book to come out NOW.

Another thing, When Peeta said that Katniss was pregnant, was he even thinking about what would happen in the future? From his perspective at the time, he wanted Katniss to win the Games, so she would live. But she wasn't pregnant, and 9 months from that time when Katniss didn't have a baby, don't you think the Capitol would be mad. To me it seems like he just put her in more trouble than if he didn't say anything.

Oh you're right!! CINNA. I completely forgot about him. I really hope he's okay...

Oh yah, I never really gave thought to the pregnant thing. I'm guessing he wasn't really thinking ahead, he was just trying to keep her safe. But if she did end up winning, she would probably just fake a miscarriage or something. And most likely, the citizens in the Capitol would buy it, and the people like Mr. Snow and his advisors would have probably already known that it was fake..

WOW, iroonic you mention that, I was thinking about that today....but chances are your right African, Peeta is a sweet guy, and I think he was just thinking about keeping Katniss safe. And a miscarriage is a good idea (Y)

My english teacher is awesome
he went out and bought the book... and let me borrow it before he even read it. (hes also read mortal instruments, inheritance, and other good books) Anyway, I think that Katniss will go to the capitol to save peeta without thinking like African said.

I am probobly team peeta, but it is a really hard choice. I also think that there will not be a district 13, just rubble. However, I am pretty sure that there may be other "civilizations" (( not that the.. what is the place called.. is any civilzed)) beyond their countries boundries. civilizations that dont kill people for the fun of it. Remember wen it said somewhere in book one that the districts were the future united states??? that is sooooo not the whole world.

As for Cinna. when he got captured in front of Katniss's eyes ( see thats what i mean about the capitol not being civilized) i was like oh sheet, i really hope that Katniss will be able to take down the Capitol.

Hmm you know what I wonder? I wonder if the Capitol is aware of the activiy in District 13. I mean, knowing how controlling they are, you would think they would know.
Unless:
1. District 13 is somehow disguising the activity (like being underground??)
2. They aren't necessarily IN District 13..but they're the people from District 13
3. The Capitol is scared of them because they're nuclear..so they're just ignoring them
4. They're so powerful the Capitol decided to just cover them up ..
or 5. The Capitol believes they have tabs on District 13, but they're incorrect on what's going on..

Also, I just found out that I completely missed the part where Johanna took out Katniss's tracker. Made that scene be much less confusing. Hmm, I'm trying to think what else. Cinna is probably dead (unfortunately) and...I think I'm gonna say I'm officially Team Peeta. As my sister put it. Gale had a chance to take Katniss's spot ..or at least volunteer to help her in the arena, plus he would rather follow his rebellion than keep Katniss safe. Peeta made them put him in the arena so he could get Katniss out there alive. I love him now

I don't know about 13 being underground, but The fact 13 is so powerful is definitaly a possibility.
As for gale, do you mean in the Hunger Games or in Catching Fire??? BEcause in Catching Fire He couldn't have volunteered because only Victors were allowed to compete.

Somehow I believe Snow is just a bit too intelligent to simply let 13 go unknown like this....
I think maybe 13 is blackmailing the Capitol or somthing like that...
