Destination

They wander along the never-ending path,
Always wondering who will next exact their wrath.
The horrified voyagers look over their shoulder,
Every step they take, it grows much colder.
They smother their fear, and keep on walking.
Only to find, that their neighbor is the one stalking.

They break rank and run,
But the deed has been done.
The hand of their enemy has struck again,
And it leaves the survivors heart’s filled with pain.
They weed out the spies,
And all the ones who covered the lies.

They reach their destination,
Through luck and determination.
Rest and recuperate,
Else they would regain strength too late.
For the tide is about to turn,
Their enemies have much to learn.

So, this is my first poem in years. I don't know why I wrote it, I just had the poem writing feeling. I would love it if you would tell me what you think.
Thanks,
~S.T.~
