They told me to look before I jumped.
So I waved as I jumped backwards.
I giggled as I landed in the puddle.

Aww, it's a really cute poem! It had a very nice wording, too.
I feel like copying it.....
I won't, though.
"It's hard to walk straight
when the day is late
And the horizon is as far
as you can see

It's hard when you're told
That you're getting old
and the world isn't
what it used to be."

Shards of Glass
“Calm.” Mr. Jenkins repeated flatly. “I’m perfectly calm. Oh, I’m as relaxed as I can be with an elephant floating by the window.” The last few words were increasing in volume until they were shrieks punctuated by violent stabbing motions at the window.

Is this the whole poem? It doesn't flow well(IMO) . Also use something other than jumped in the second line, you already used it in the first line.

I'm not discouraging you. It is nice piece, but for me to form an opinion you need to post something longer.
