Eldest page 391 QUOTE He said, "This is how Rhunon charmed the Rider's swords so they never break or dull; how we sing plants into growingas we desire; how a trap might be set in a box, only to be triggered when the box is opened; how we and the dwarves make the Erisdar, our lanterns; and how you may heal one who is injured, to name but a few uses." Erisdar.... fitting, don't you think? Lantern as in light. Like seeing a light at the end of a tunnel. A shining light, maybe... whatever floats your boat. That's a lovely idea and explanation about Galedr / Glaeth, i found in this elven dictionary: QUOTE Glaeth – ‘Formidable In Battle / Well Armed / Having The Capacity To Do Much Damage’ (Dangerous / Vicious)’ And that is agree the idea i had about Galedr (and about Oromis) before they were injured |

It really does depend on whom the dragon hatches for. If it is for Arya, maybe Evandar (after her father?) Faolin (After her lover). Can't think of anything else, but I think that it would be nice if it was named after somebody the rider had lost (after all, I kind of see it as naming a person's child, children are quite often named after their grandparents/ancestors).
If it is Roran, then he wil have no idea on suitable names and will therefore go to Eragon. That is where the ideas from Brom could come into play.He may also chose to call it Garrow, though I believe that he won't be the rider and that he will call his and Katrina's child Garrow. The names you guys came up with are quite nice. But, since we don't know who the Rider is going to be, it's going to be a difficult choice. Because, even though Saphira's name has something to do with her colour, Thorn's, Glaedr's or Shruikan don't. I think Thorn reminds of roses which have thorns and are mostly associated with the color red, as someone has already pointed out. I agree with you 'cuz, Its only Saphira's name that relates to any gem or colour. Rarely any other name looks like a colour's name. So I hope it isn't a name (and a stupid one at that too!) that relates to a colour. A colour name would also make me feel that the new rider(behind him-actually CP) doesn't have any creativity. -------------------- There isn't any competition, cuz I'm the best !

I agree with Rider of Argonok that if the rider is Arya(which I think it will be ) it would kind of make sense that she might name him Faolin. Plus, I think that sounds like a magestic name that he would like.

There is absolutely nothing in the books to foreshadow what the green dragon's name might be. Please don't start topics that have no supporting evidence whatsoever.
I'd like the green dragon to be named Vanilor. If CP named the green dragon Greeni, Emeraldis, or Kuthian EDIT:Naming the green dragon Faolin?! The sky is falling... This post has been edited by Lagoran: Nov 10 2009, 08:24 AM -------------------- A MYTHICAL SCENE FROM WORLD WAR 1

By the way, it's not really the Rider that picks the name. With Saphira, Eragon asked her a whole list of names, and she picked the name she liked.

Oh yeah I know that, but I think that if Arya asked whether or not Greeni liked the name Faolin or Evandar he would (I think I read somewhere that dragons love poetic things like that). Also, Saphira only refused all of the other names that Eragon listed because they were male names, not necessarily because she didn't like them. I can't remember if Saphira was the first female name, or whether it took a couple. -------------------- "Do not think that this ends here...the history of light and shadow will be written in blood" - Ganondorf Dragmire

I made up a name for the green dragon, and it's Li'flae . . . it'd be so weird if that was its name.

Wow, Li'flae, I like it alot. I don't know if this is any inspiration to you, but there is very good reasoning. It sounds extremely similar to La Fee (pronounced La Fay), which is a French brand of Absinthe. And, as we all know, Absinthe is bright green, as is the dragon. Kudos to that name.

Hey mate, no offence but I think we know more about these forums than you and if we weren't alowed to discuss it, it would have been closed ages ago. So don't post without thinking. And if you had something against this thread why'd you offer Vanilor? Besodes it sounds like Vanilla...
