What are some of your favorite characters that you've written? Original work or fanfiction. They must be original characters, though.

Original Characters = Of your own creation.

So what are your favorite characters? Are they like you, like anyone you know - or do you thrive on the fact that they are different, completely alien from anyone you have ever met? (Yes, it is possible to allow people to identify with a character who is completely alien. In theory.)

Right now one of my characters is being based off of a song lyric. "Do you live, do you bleed, do you die for the fantasy?"(30 Seconds to Mars, "The Fantasy.") Mainly, he lives in the ghetto and he's a writer who dreams about getting out and becoming rich through his writing. He makes huge sacrifices for it along the way, though, and he's a massive victim of racism and bullying. I really like the idea of him, though.

What about you guys?

James

"I really like the idea of him, though." You cruel, cruel person. D.gif

My favorite character... Mmm... Probably one of the main characters from my own Book. I am still writing it, but I love the way he acts in my head... So arrogant, so full of himself, but then gets totally owned by another character. "Great character building."

But, hey! He has right to be cocky: not everyone is as awesome as he is.

Oh, gosh, characters are so fun. It's so hard to choose.

Right now, in ZombieCon '18, I'm really enjoying writing Summer. She's sort of the "perpetually grinning psychopath" sort of character.

Dvorak from QWERTY was another fun one to write. I basically just took him and made him as nerdy as I could. Also from QWERTY, I have Binary, who was pretty much a complete b*tch who, as the story went along, mellowed, gaining a second chance at her lifestyle in the process.

And though I now hate The Adventures of Bob, I'm thinking of taking the whole train wreck and revising it into something that is actually good, due entirely to the protagonist's alternate dimension alter ego. Who was awesome.

Humans have survived...but has humanity?

In Uprising, probably my favorite characters, and probably all my readers' too, would be Seraphine and Rashula. Both are female dragons but they are completely different and unique.

Seraphine is a fairly young dragoness that has had a very difficult time growing up in life. Her parents were killed in the Dragon War and was left all alone to fend for herself. She ends up getting brought under another male dragon's wing and they became quick friends over the generations. But unfortunately, she's not desiring him as a mate but the male isn't one to really take 'no' for an answer. As time goes on, we learn that she's just a frail dragoness that has a fragile heart that later turns into one the most loving character you've ever seen. She also has these "episodes" where she (usually unconsciously) taps into the vast amounts of magic that resides within her and ends up doing some pretty hefty damage. You'd have to read the story to know everything. As of now, I'm having Seraphine serve as Shruikan's mate and the amount of love and dedication she has is something truly unique. She's so real that everyone has come to love her since the beginning.

Rashula, on the other hand, is a dragon all her own. Rashula stayed with her mother, one that was believed to hold the answers to all of life's secrets, for quite some time. When her mother is slaughtered in a surprise attack, she decides to set out to learn the secrets of life with her newly acquired Rider. All her actions are designed to help her learn more about the world, whether it's attacking cities, holding conversation, or having a good time with her Rider. Everything is a lesson for life in her eyes.

I once created a character in my cartoon potfolio named Nightwind. He starts off as a villain but as the season progresses is revealed to be more on an anti hero

He is a teenage mercenary for hire, but he only does it because he has 12 siblings and a widow mother who is crippled and cannot provide for the family. He wields two curved blades, can teleport, has extreme reflexes, and is able to absorb and duplicate is enemies attacks.

His real name is Herric and he is kind of a tragic character.

Mmmf, my favorite character? That must be Father Edward. He is a Catholic priest in an isolated town around the year 400. The entire town are devote christians and reguraly beg forgivness, go to massess, and pray like every dedicated Catholic. Father Edward is a sort of icon to them, a saint. And when people mysteriously start to go missing they look to him for guidance wich he gives.

But the real twist is that Father Edward is the one who killed those people, he was hired to exterminate the town one by one, by a man who belives one of the towns residents to of killed his cousin. What makes him a personal favorite is his smugness, I adore it ).gif He is so satisfied with every single sucess be it a carefully designed plan having been in motion for years or that he simply won a game, he loves to win and gloat after winning. And he will do anything to win, just so he could get a good gloat.

Has to be Faegareth. I haven't added to that series of fanfics in a while, but I've been meaning to get back into it and pick up. I have an incomplete sequel and a background story in the works. Though the sequel really focuses on Faegareth's son.

Faegareth started as the Alagaesian counterpart to the main character of my original works, but then sort of developed his own slant, since his story arc and origin is very different in the fanfiction from in my original story. I started writing him in a fanfiction as a character study, just to play around with him being at different points in his character development.

He's basically a huge asshole, lustful, irreverent, and downright mean. Readers really liked him and thought he was totally hot. He scores pretty high on mary sue tests, but I've been told he's not a mary sue by readers because of how he's characterized. I had lots of fun writing him, because he was so dynamic and unpredictable. I'm just a huge fan of characters, and when a good one comes to me, I hold on to him as hard as I can.

Damn, now I need to read through my writing again.

Father Ramirez, an insane man who's ideas and emotions fluxuate. He is unpredictable, and has a lack of regard for human life. He shot himself in the head and lived to tell the tale, a scar above one of his eyes, which is now lazy. Razor wire (use to put barbed wire) weaved into his head like Jesus and the crown of thorns. He sometimes believes his religious beliefs are fronts for his drug smuggling, other times he believes the drug smuggling makes money for his religious quest to kill people. Deeply conflicted, and no where. He haunts me to this day, I can't doodle in class without drawing him and having his "voice" come in my head. "You f*ckers better kill for God all mighty himself."

While I've never really felt that my characters have been deep/complex, nor have I ever felt a connection with them (All of this might be because the farthest I've gotten on a story is chapter 3), I do like the 2 opposing cultures that I've created for Damnation and Deliverance (Formally known as Apocrypha).
"High" Culture- A set of values adopted by the upper-class members of the Holy Dominion (A semi-Romanesque empire of humans) along with the Ascetics (A sort of inquisition) , high culture places very strong emphasis on self-discipline, restraint, etc. It's essentially stoicism that's taken to the extreme and affects all aspects of life. For example, Males either have very short hair or none at all, and females have shorter hair than usual, and it is usually in a pony tail most of the time.
"Low" Culture- A set of values (or lack there of) that is essentially a polar opposite of High Culture.

Most of my "evil" characters are my favourites. The prominent one being Mark from my unnamed sci-fi story. He's a doctor, and he tells one man that he had AIDS just so the man wouldn't want to be around his boyfriend. He was an exceptionally good liar and was very persuasive, but he got found out eventually. In the end, Mark gets killed for "participating in illegal activites". But he's fun just beause he's so deceptive. Also, he has his own secretary, which amuses me for no reason in partcular. His last name is Eteasil, so his name is essentially "Market Easil". ;).gif One of the characters who doesn't like him just calls him Dr. Weasel.

Another favourite of mine is Henry King. Not exactly a bad guy, but he is generally an ass. He's from a different unnamed sci-fi story. He's got reverse-joint knees. He lets his frustation out by hitting his frail little brother, but his brother doesn't really mind because they're all that's left of their family. Not a single other character enjoys his company because all he does is wench about how he coud do things better. He, too, dies eventually, by getting shot in the chest just as the troupe was busting into the enemy HQ.

One last one: Lara, from an unnamed fantasy novel. She's terrakinetic, so she can control the earth with her mind. She can shape it, bend it, mold it, and just have a lot of fun with it. The reason I like her, though, is because of her optimistic attitude. Some of her quotes include, "Yeah! Let's totally rock it out!"(really bad pun), "We may be getting slowly poised to death, but at least we aren't being eaten alive by zombies or whatever.", "Cheer up! There's a silver lining around every rainbow! ... Or something like that.". She is a bit slow at times, but her cheerfulness and sheer power make up for that.

My favorite character I have ever written and continue to write is named... I won't reveal her full name (I am a total paranoid author) but we can call her S.

She is a total sexually sadistic, psychotic fiend. I adore her. She is always so happy. All of my readers who read the writing bits I post on this art website with her love her. They prefer her over my cop character who we can call C. D.gif

S and C are part of my horror/crime fiction. I'm a shock writer so the whole thing is pretty much really f-ed up, but yeah. Great piece. I love it. I love S.

My favorite character of my own creation would have to be Blackfang Timburwolfe, the main character in my book, FangQuest. He's an anthropomorphic wolf (not an effin furry!) who has a necklace that let's him shape-shift into other species and a sword called the Slayers' Blade that gives him the power of the Slayers' Form. If you want to know more, I'm sorry, it'll ruin the book, so... Oh, he's a fun guy at the beginning of the book and by the end he becomes a hard-shelled warrior.

Following Blackfang is Cerberus, a misfortunate anthro-wolf in the epilogue and sequel to FangQuest. His whole family was murdered before him and he barely escaped with his life. When he is 20 he meets a she-wolf named Crysta and they develop a strong relationship.
