So this is a topic I think we've discussed a bit in the past but never really took it further than a basic idea. I figured that since you guys would be the potential wearers of said t-shirts, you're the perfect group to ask the question -- what would you like to see on an IF t-shirt?

I know we've got some quirky/witty/dirty minds here, and while quirky and witty work on a t-shirt, I can't offer anything dirty on one. So if you have any ideas for a t-shirt design you'd like to see sold as an IF t-shirt, share your ideas here. Ideally I'd like to see one serious t-shirt idea and one quirky/witty idea (FTD-based, maybe?), that way we're pleasing both crowds.

I personally like the idea of having the new header Arthryn made up for the layouts on IPB3.0 as a t-shirt. I think it'd look great.

So what would you guys like to see? (I'm not necessarily asking for sketches of ideas. If you want to just post a written idea, with a description or even just text you'd like to see on it, that works just as well!)

(Edit: Also, these designs can ideally be offered on a wide range of stuff, not just t-shirts. Hoodies, tank-tops, hats, bags, backpacks, pins, buttons, etc., so keep that in mind!)

So I just talked with Arthryn and she has some good ideas on how we can make some cool shirt designs (she designed our current Shurtugal.com shirt so you guys would be in good hands) and stuff to do with the money generated from shirt sales (contest prizes, gifts for staff for putting up with modding IF for so long, etc).

What about something like, "I got warned by Mike/Arthryn/other feared mods and survived"

I don't know if that's too negative...or just stupid, but it sounded good to me at least, hah.

How about something like 'Atra esterni ono thelduin' or... 'Brisingr!' I know, cheesy ideas, but I'm trying!! Off topic, I must say I'm just a little freaked out, what with being a Newbie and posting on a board that so far has only been posted on by one of the Mods and Mike!! :D
Well, I hope you find the ideas at least a little interesting...

Ideas that would be awesome:

"I challenged the Gatekeeper and Lost."
"WWLD: What Would Loki Do?"

Something anti Twilight would be good....

Or a picture of Saphira....

We have an anti-Twilight shirt that I'm pretty proud of (though it might be seen as a little corny by some of the more trendy visitors on IF): http://shurtugal.spr...nk-men-A4567361

It's also important to take copyright law into consideration. Can't use stuff like "Eragon", "Saphira", "Murtagh", "Brisingr", etc etc etc because we'd get our butts sued into oblivion by Fox who owns the trademark and merchandising rights.

I like the idea of the new header being on a shirt.

I agree about WWLD. It's one of my rules to live by. I would totally buy one of those.

What sizes would these shirts be available in? Would you be making them for larger people? I wear a 3X Adult, so would I still be able to get one?

I'll look into this. We go through a printer who handles everything for us. I know they offer up to XXL but I'm not sure of 3XL. I'll let you know once I find out.

You could have custom shirts, with the users name on the front and the URL to the page on the front, and the logo on the back.

Some people might do it.

That would cost way too much. The point of it is to get a general amount of outlines, say ten different shirts, five different hoodies, etc. Then you mass produce them. Rinse and repeat as necessary.
