Skulduggery Pleasant

Its already on its 3rd book and is supposedly being turned into a film but not a lot of people ive chatted to seem to have even heard of it.

Im a massive fan of the series and love its Irish setting aswell as its dark humour and interesting characters, its also surprisingly gory for a young adults book but thats another reason I like it as it dosen't shy away from describing violence.

So anyway any other fans of the skeleton detective?

Dragon armour

This has bugged me since Eldest.

Seeing as Thorn spents most of his time in agony getting hacked or bitten to bits, why does Galbatorix not see fit to give him dragon armour ?

Saphira had old armour giving to her at the Varden, is CP saying that after all the dragon's he killed Galbatorix never took any?

Or why not simply build some?, if I was Galbatorix id be trying to protect my slave's dragon especialy as he's so inexperianced in battle.

No Sympathy for Thorn

Since Brisngr was released the number of hostile posts towards Thorn has really confused me

I honestly cant understand why there is no Sympathy whatsoever for this character especially finding out more about him in Brisingr, He has been abused from the momment he hatched

Galbatorix twisted his growth giving him a adult body when he is just a hatchling, He is then thrown in at the deep end to fight his own kind, fighting Saphira and especially Glaedr must have terrified him and the amount of injuries he recieves, his screams of agony and the fact he dosent understand why all this is happening to him* make it even worse.

* "In his sparkling crimson eyes appeared a vast, puzzled sadness, as if he hoped Saphira or Eragon might know why he had been brought into this world merely so Galbatorix could enslave him, abuse him and force him to destroy other beings' lives".


My biggest gripe is with the Oromis/Glaedr fans who ignore the characters suffering and want him to have his limbs ripped off and killed horribly despite the fact its not even his fault he has to fight they also happily forget that Glaedr was trying to kill Thorn at that moment as well.

* Someone just pointed out that perhaps Thorn did not strike the killing blow rather he passed under Glaedr and Galbatorix sliced Glaedr's neck killing him. **

Even Eragon and Saphira fell pity for Thorn on page 319 so why does no one else.

"Pity for Thorn welled up inside Eragon and Saphira together, and they wished they could speak to him directly, but they dared not open their minds to him"


I realize this must appear as just a fanboy rant defending my favorite character, but if he had actually done something to deserve his abuse then I could understand it.

But as far as im concered Thorn is a Innocent dragon forced to do terrible things against his will.

Hello

After much confusion from myself (being beyond noob when it comes to computers) I was finally able to join this forum.

Im fairly new to the internet and forums in general so please understand if my posts are a little.....um confused

Nothing much to tell about me..... love dragons, Started reading the Inheritance series last year, fave Character Thorn and im eagerly awaiting the third book.
