Proud Vassal

"Eragon...Eragon wake up."
With a jolt Eragon woke up, rubbing tears off his eyes. The death of Oromis and Glaedr had shaken him up for the past 2 days and he kept blaming himself for not saving Oromis, though Glaedr had died a body's death, his mind was still intact in his Eldunari, his loss of his Rider still tormented him and he kept him to himself.

Eragon glanced around and saw his partner-of-mind-and-soul aka Saphira looking at him with concern, her scales gleaming in the bright sun. He gave her a faint smile and got off his bed at once and had gone outside gulping in the fresh air and checked his surroundings. The Varden had set up their base high up on the valley so that they could get a get good view of the Empire and be forewarned from any assault. 4 archers were stationed on their outpost on either side of the valley, whereas 3 kull were stationed at the bottom of the valley hiding in a nearby cave for further seeing , and 1 urgal on a tower for watch out of an air assault.

“Shadeslayer”, Eragon looked around and saw one the varden’s messenger running towards him.
With a bow to Eragon and Saphira “Shadeslayer and Brightscales….Lady Nasuada seeks you; she says she has an urgent meeting with you regarding the next assault on Belatona. She says that attacking north will bring Galbatorix of his guard,” said the messenger. Eragon nodded and walked towards commander’s tent where all the important meetings took place, which were 8 tents away.

“What about the siege on Dras-Leona, are we supposed to attack there after Belatona?” asked Saphira. “No, Lady Nasuada has ordered us to station ourselves at Dras-Leona to bring down Galbatorix’s army so that you are free to capture Belatona, that is of course if Rider and Thorn stands as obstacles in your path”, replied messenger. They walked into the tent and saw Orrin, Arya and Lady Nasuada sitting around a large ornate table.

“Yes, Eragon we all have been waiting for you. I assume that Jirvinks has informed you of our plan?” asked Lady Nasuada. When Eragon nodded, Nasuada resumed “You may go Jirvinks.” and with a bow he left the tent. Nasuada added on, “the plan is simple; you will capture Belatona and move on to the elves aid. I have already guessed that Galbatorix will have Murtagh and Thorn stationed there, if necessary you can kill them, for the time to capture them has passed away.” If Eragon was surprised by Nasuada’s sudden hostility towards Murtagh, he did not show it.

“No”, said Eragon surprising Nasuada, Arya and Orrin. “I will not kill Murtagh or Thorn for they are innocent, long I have thought about it, me and Saphira have reached this conclusion that during the fight with Oromis and Glaedr, Murtagh had been carrying one or 2 Eldunari I do not no the quantity but I can say for sure that Galbatorix had directed his power to Murtagh’s Eldunari through which he channeled his power and possessed him for Murtagh did not have any control over his body for Galbatorix energy overpowered him, thus it is Galbatorix is to blame for our mentors death."

There was a shocked silence around the tent, Arya and Nasuada were looking horror-struck, “But what about the incident back in Burning Plains, he murdered Hrothgar for heaven’s sake. What do you say to that Eragon?” asked Nasuada.

“I say that I am still keeping Murtagh and Thorn alive for that would another dragon being removed from existence along with another rider. Would you want that to happen?
Murtagh-Thorn, Green dragon-rider and Me-Saphira are the only hope to overthrow the dark king and I am determined to change Murtagh and Thorn’ true name. I have already asked Jeod to work on the ancient secret passages that were long ago burned but only Jeod has the last copy, if there is hope then I will rescue the last dragon egg from his clutches. Regarding Hrothgar’s death if I was Galbatorix’s vassal I would have done the same.” said Eragon coldly.

“But this is outrageous-“said King Orrin interrupted by Nasuada, “Very well Eragon….as you wish.” said Nasuada, “Your father would be proud of you, Eragon, so am I”, added Nasuada with a smile. "What do you think Arya? You have been quiet through out the meeting?" added Nasuada

"I agree with Eragon, he is right it is not right to lead send another dragon to the void" said Arya
Eragon's cheek flushed...and he smiled at Arya.

“Thank you My Lady.” said Eragon and with a bow he left the tent.
“How do you intend to capture stunted-red-scales-Thorn and half-brother-Murtagh?" asked Saphira. “I do not no, Saphira, I do not no… but we will find a away I am sure, won’t we Saphira?" asked Eragon. “Yes, Little one.” said Saphira with laugh that kept reminding Eragon of rolling boulders.

galby cudnt hav let only the twins to be his spies
the twins are arrogant in nature
they wer bound to do somethin wrong
so maybe galby sent another to infiltrate the varden's secrets and pass on to galby>>
