Many members are increasingly not using proper C&C, so this topic is being made to show users examples of proper C&C and things to comment on when thinking of a post of C&C to a work.

This is an image set that was posted in the Showcase Sub-Forum from a member here named Kid_Gimper.

The following is C&C to this set before the Version 2 was added. It is by our forum's member, Fastflame304.

Depth works awesome, although you could go for a little more sharpness contrast. Like, the render doesn't look that much sharper than the bg in some of the focal parts. Try sharpening a little lower on the staff and a bit left towards his right shoulder (our left). Maybe change the border a bit, I don't like it that much. And make the text a little more stand out. Maybe move it if you want to, but definitely either change the font, make it bold, and find some way to make it stand out more from what's behind it. I suggest selecting the text and enlarging selection by either 1 or 2 px, then fill that selection with black on a layer behind the text for an outline. Merge if there's nothing special on the text (like a clipping mask).

Your clipping masks work well, and I like the effects you put in a lot. They REALLY add to the depth. The colors are a little bit plain IMO. To get some more contrast and depth, try desaturating the areas that you don't want the sig to focus on a little bit. Or in this case, since everything already looks a little bit desaturated already, maybe you can saturate focal areas more, idk. Adjust the technique as needed I guess. Also, just exaggerate the lighting a bit more, maybe either a black and white linear gradient going from the left side of the sig, starting a little left of where his head is, diagonally down to the right side of the sig, probably on some blending mode like overlay. Or you can use a radial gradient, the white part going from the very left side of the sig, to about somewhere in the "roth" of the text, also on some blending mode like that.

I think it'll look a lot better if you make those changes. Great job already though, looks really awesome.

As you can see, fastflame considered many aspects of the signature and made proper C&C. This is a perfect example of proper C&C.

It is realized that some members might not be able to post something this long or detailed. Therefore, it is acceptable to post a few sentences, three or four, summarizing your opinion on the image and any changes you think should be done. It should be structured and written properly.

Please do not post one sentence C&C that gives no help to the creator at all. If you have nothing to suggest, then you can say the parts you liked the most, and the parts you liked the least. This gives the creator an idea of their strengths and weaknesses.

Four sentences is not much to type up, and most if not all people can think of four sentences to say about an image. Please try to be as detailed as possible, and do not just be vague.

This is an example of bad C&C on another image.

Ahh, it's ok, but you could do alittle work. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

This member posted this in a creator's thread. It seems to be apparent they were just posting to raise their post count. They were very vague, and did not explain themselves at all. There is no need to show the image, because this post is too vague, and it cannot be counted as specific C&C for that particular image. Their very words contradicted themselves.

Please refrain posting things like these, because it is not proper C&C at all. Improper C&C, or C&C that is just, can be deleted, and the member may be warned.

If a member feels that they are not sure if their C&C is not acceptable, they are welcome to send it to a Graphics (Arts) Moderator, and they can tell members if it is okay, or if they should change something. This is recommended for new members who wish to C&C people's works and do not want to be in trouble.

If you have any questions regarding this thread, Proper C&C, or Graphics help, please feel free to PM a Graphics Moderator or myself, and we will do our best assist you with your question or problem.
