Well, I did one in color, and one in B&W. C&C

After asking mtb about the colour

And another Version!

And Another!

^Watch you be like the only entrant.
Wra1thHunter
It crossed my mind. Hopefully that is not the case though, it is relatively easy to do.
fastflame304
Who votes that he always has to enter after 3 other people? haha jk
Wra1thHunter
-.- We're lucky if we get 3 people entering on something other then freestyle these days. But I don't think I am that far ahead of everybody. Matt and I are head to head in terms of GFX level, although he's more of a smudge artist and I am more of a abstract one. People need to challenge themselves to beat us is all. Thats what I did when Nate was owning everyone. If we got 8 people entering every week, everyone would be improving drastically.
Anya
While we're still on this topic, I'm looking for ideas on what we can do to make SotW, and the graphics section in general, more successful. Since I don't totally want to hijack Wraith's topic, if anybody has any suggestions, PM them to me, and I'll see what I can do.

Back to the sig, V4 is definitely the best. I love the added contrast in it. The colors in it seem to be a little bit too muted though, in my opinion. Something in between V1 and V3 would be best, maybe a little more on the V3 side so you could stick with the contrast.
Wra1thHunter
How's this?

And you can hijack my thread all you want. The thing that works best on one of my other forums won't work here though.
Anya
Nice! The red on her skirt adds a lot to the sig. Very cool.

So what is this thing that works on one of your other forums but wouldn't work here?
Wra1thHunter
Well, on the other forum, this one is a gamer forum, we always gave out a prize for the winner. Thats why it won't work here. Although, we could make something for the SOTW winner, like a tag to put in their sig, sort of like what Planetrenders does. If the people involved have a lot of pride it will motivate them.
Anya
Yeah, that's one of the things I was thinking of. The thing is, though, that the winner wouldn't have room in their signature for either buttons or userbars as the award if they still wanted to have a sig. You'd have to link to the awards, and, honestly, not many people are going to click it.
Wra1thHunter
Well, you could ask Allison to modify the rules, she might be okay with it. As long as its not overboard, they might consider it.
Anya
Yeah, I might do that. Although, for people like you and mtbanger who win a lot, even if we modified the rules for you, you guys would still end up with excess. Although, I guess the ones that win a lot don't really need the prizes for motivation to enter, you guys just do. That's why you win them all.
Wra1thHunter
For the Moment, yeah, me and mtb would stack the wins up, but its the same thing as when we first came here and Nate was winning them all. Eventually the others will get better and challenge us each week.
Anya
We all know that you guys will just get ticked off about others winning, and you'll go and get better than them then. XD

On a serious note, yeah, that does sound like something that might work. We're actually working on a rules revision now, so I'll see if I can do something about the signature size so we can fit the awards in.

Eh whats that? You want me to challenge you? Pfftt...
Wra1thHunter
Bring it boy, the only person to take a win away from me and mtb when we both enter is OW, and thats because he owns Photo manipulation. But seriously, I'd be stoked if you did beat me. As much as I hate losing, its awesome to see others get better.
Darth Futuza
Fine I'll think of something interesting to do with this one...something...something...

I'll tell you the best way to improve your skills. Find someone with the same skills as you. And Compete. Its that simple. When I came here and started, I had Anya, H.N, Matt, and a couple others to compete with. The Drive to beat the rest will make you better really fast. But once you get to a super level, don't lose it.
BeefStew
I'm tempted to try beating you, Wra1th.

And I'm pretty sure I've done that a couple of times too, p.gif

Well, onto the sig. It's pretty nice, quite simple and works well. I like V1 the best, and the colours are quite good, liking the red. I guess it would have looked better if the girl was, you know, more towards one of the sides. In the centre, doesn't look too good. Other than that, good work!

Anya
I've got to disagree with him. If you compete against people who are at the same level as you, there's always the chance that you'll improve past them, and they'll stop improving. Then what do you have to do? Not to mention, if you're always competing against those people, you're more likely to do something so it's just better than theirs, but not great or amazing. No, the best way to improve is to pick somebody whose skills are way above yours, and strive to get to that level. Just as long as you don't let yourself get frustrated with it, you'll improve faster. Also, even if your gfx idol leaves the forums or quits graphics or something, you'll still have the sigs that they've done to look at and try to be better than. If you're challenging another member, you have those things to worry about, because not everybody is as dedicated as you are. Once you've reached the level you were trying to, then Wraith's method would be good.
Wra1thHunter
Yeash Anya, way to bring my method out of hiding. But for these guys/girls, they don't have the selection that me, you or mtb did. If they're the Abstract type, I think it is safe to say I own that category. Mtb owns the smudge. And you own what ever it is you own? I always looked up to the big bosses, Nate and Allison. Now, I look up to bash and such from planet renders, cause they're insane.
Anya
Haha, I own nothing. My skills are more hit and miss.
You are right about that though, we had a lot more members to look up to. I started graphics in the glory days of the gfx team, and all of them were really good. H.N. and Soragon were a couple of my favorites, along with Nate. I miss him...
