I made a new one, and I think it turned out quite well (for my third one, that is.)

Any C&C wiould be greatly appreciated.

First off:
The rendering is rubbish (sorry, but it is

), especially on Arwen
The text ( I choose..) is wrong, she says I CHOSE...rather than choose. The font is icky, it is hard to read and the placing is kind bad, the color stands out too much, and it is squasghed up too near her face.
Aragorn: does not fit with colour scheme (blue).
The evening star necklace: is badly rendered, takes awya attention and is distracting.
I would get rid of aragorn all together, because he distracts too.
Sorry for completely hammering you, please forgive me.

Thanks for the help. Like I said, I'm new at this.

I took your advice and found a different background. I thought it might work better with a simplistic look. What do you think?
(I looked up the quote and I was right, it is choose.)

Quite right, it was choose....I always thought it was a past tense...
This is much better; it looks very good. What I would say now, however, is to move the text. It is still distracting; you need to place it somewhere along the bottom or very near her.

What do you think now? I moved the text so it was less noticable.

Being the idiot that I am, I accidently deleted the pic on Photobucket.

Better, but I would have on one line, not two. The colour of the text is vivid blue- try and make it a grey blue like the rest of the sig.

Something like this?

Wow,that's improved greatly! And don't worry, not too long ago I was pathetic...

Thanks. I'm working on making a new one that puts Arwen and Aragorn together.

What do you think?

Faaaaaaar to busy, you have 3 images in one. The colours are all different. You could use only one (maybe the 1st one?), change the colours to make it more one colour, and then mess around.

I was just messing around with that one, trying out what I can do. Gimp has so many features, I'm still figuring out what does what.
I really like this one, what do you think?

I don't know why the line on the right is there, it wasn't when I made it.

Jun 13 2009, 09:26 AM
The line I presume is where you have moved the image. So what did you actually change?
pityonmurtagh
Jun 13 2009, 09:29 AM
But it wasn't there when I hosted it on Photobucket, only after I pasted it.
Well, I took the original image, resized it to where I wanted it, then I messed around with the smudging and bluring. To make it brighter on the right hand side, I tried Dodging. I think it turned out pretty nice.

The image is blurry, by the way.
Did you scale it up or down?
What do you think people would say it is if they saw it?
Because you have no obvious graphical changes, they would probably say that you cropped an image. You need to add something that will change it and add to it, like a brush.

On the sides, it was meant to be blurry, but if you are reffering to the actual image, I found it like that. Not the best quality.
I scaled it down.
The only addition that I really did was the repeating bush on the left. I also really altered the lighting, though I'm not quite sure how. What would you recommend that I do?

Get some brushes of deviantart/ whatever( make sure you read the note at the bottom for copyright) and just experiment.

For some reason the brushes wouldn't work, but I tried messing around with some stuff and junk.

What do you think?

That's pretty cool, how'd you do that? Did you install the brushes in the correct directory?

I cut out the image with scissors, then you go to dodge/burn, put clipboard as the brush size, and then mess around with the settings. It was pretty easy actually.

Thanks! I messed around with it for about half an hour before I finally got it how I wanted it.

So, are you happy with it? Because that the most important part.

Jun 13 2009, 11:20 AM
I don't think I'll ever be happy with my own work. I'm just too cynical, I expect better of myself, even when I'm giing my best. The only ones that I like are my current Sig, and a DBZ one in my other topic. Those turned out okay.

The curent one is very good for a beginner like you! I'm very impressed, actially.

Thanks, that means alot coming from somone as good as you. It wouldn't be half as good if you hadn't told me how to make it better though. Thanks for all of the help.

I edited my sig some, at erona's advice. I like it much better now, It's more symmetrical. What dou you think of the difference?

Hmmm, it looks rather nice, but a little choppy. Try softening it just a bit.

I tried, but everytime I did, the balance would get messed up, or it would look uneven. Meh.

Death over my body the day a big corporation hires a person to make forum signatures all day long.
Well as it still registers as 2D art and design, its uh... Just too small to include in a portfolio?
Thats pretty much it. I dont really have much evidence.

What? That made absolutely no sense.
