I was re-reading Eragon just today and I found this quote.

"Eragon smiled at the praise.'Thank you. Does this language have a name?'
Brom laughed.'Yes, but no one knows it. It would be a word of incredible power, by which you could control the entire language and those who use it. People have long searched for it, but no one has ever found it.' "

Now, based on the Ra'zac's hint where it insisted on stressing "THE NAME" with no further detail, several theories arise. Sure, Galbatorix could be searching for his own name. But, he's probably already found that. What use is it to him? He could be searching for Eragon's name. Alright, but I'm sure it would be more useful to him if he had Eragon in captivity, same thing he did to Murtagh and Thorn.(Poor Thorn....)

Plus, what use is Eragon? Alright, you got another dragon rider, whoop-de-doo. You still have powerful enemies, like the Elves. If those spell casters were able to aid Eragon in taking down Murtagh, I'm sure a larger group could take down a Dragon Rider. Plus, it's not like Eragon would be willing to fight. He'd spend all his time changing his true name, and then what use was he? No. Galby wants Eragon dead.

So what other name could give him extreme power and control of things beyond what he already has. The true name of the entire Ancient Language. Think about it. A mad, power-crazed King who wants it all. What more could he want that control over almost everything? With this power, I think he would try and make his own name a word in the Ancient Language. With this power, he could do anything he wants.

So... what do you think? Am I crazy, or is it possible?

This has been suggested many times before and it is the most likely theory. I think there may be another thread on this.

I searched for one but I didn't get any results. I assumed this would already be brought up, but finding nothing I just went ahead and posted.

I think it's the name of the AL.

Off topic: there is a topic on this in the general book disscussion forms. You may just have to look for it. I would put up a link for it but everytime I try it doesn't work.

Bokgirl43 is right, there is already a topic in General Book Discussion about this. Please use the search function next time.
