Couple of Swords I Made (The one on the right was an attempt at modelling the Buster Sword from FFVII:AC)

Video: Doomschip Trailer 02

What do you think?

Yeah - nothing big. Its not like it takes up a lot of canvas space, is it? None at all. You can barely see it.

The first three aren't renders. They are stocks. Weird stocks.
But seeing as you created them yourself (right?), they're good. D.gif

First two, you mean. Everything else is raw. The first two have been edited tongue.gif

I thought you meant I was mean.

No, I mean the first three. A render is 'cut out' picture of something, to define it simply. You cannot use the Stargate on its own for whatever you want. Firstly, it is incomplete and cut off, and secondly the sky and grass are in the picture. Therefore it becomes not a standalone render (as the last three) but a 3D model picture, therefore putting it in the category of a stock.
Palagrin
He rendered them on the computer, therefore they are reneers, albeit 3D ones... And does it matter anway? xD

I partucularly like the object renders like the plane etc!
BreakneckDesperado
I've made similar models. Not this good though! tongue.gif I just mess around in Google SketchUp. -.-`

Incorrect, these are a different kind of render. He took the 3D model of the image, defined a light source and camera angle, and then rendered it as an image file.

A stock image is an unedited piece of imagery that you then manipulate to create something else. So it could be used as a stock, but as it is now, it's a rendered version of his 3D model. Make sense?

Bingo. It was made in a 3D app called Lightwave, and rendered right out of the program as the images you see. Only the first two were edited, the rest of them are RAW. ;).gif

Nah they're not, they're JPEG. RAW is completely unedited, including no data compression. But now i'm just being pedantic.

Aaaanyway, iIm impressed with the Avent Children buster sword recreation, and te other models too. The animation is also pretty nifty, but from a filmography point of view it's very disjointed and way too many explosions (though the explosions look cool).

I say RAW as in: This is an completely unedited image, RAW from the 3D app-- unedited ;).gif
Not as in, the RAW format.

The correct term would be 3D renderings. Not renders, because 'render' is a technically incorrect term for an image that has been isolated from its background in order to allow people to make internet forum sigs and other crap fan art. How I hate internet graphics.

Your model renderings are quite nice, but the first two images you've posted are atrocious and hurt my eyes. Never rape an image with than many cheesy effects and lens flares ever again. It just looks blurry and awful.
