So, I decided to make this thread to showcase each and every graphic I have made in the past, so that people who are intrested can see how I developed (I also decided to do this because I always try and track down other users graphic history on IF and it takes ages). I will also post some stuff that helped me develop at the bottom.

If you want to ask any Qs, either PM me or post in the thread.

NOTE TO STAFF: I'm sorry if you're not supposed to do this, you can close it if this is the case.

In the beginning...[Part one] May include dodgy graphics...

This was my first ever sig. It was made using a fractal render from planetrenders.com. The next few are pretty much the same...

[LINK TO THREAD]

This was my first muti-image sig-thingy. [LINK]

After I did the Aslan graphic, I had decided to do a saphira one. As you can see, it didn't turn out so well...

This was my major break through into the graphics world. Ally helped me a lot and I am very thankful for that...This one was my first SOTW entry.[LINK]

Bolstered by the fact that I had managed to do a reasonable sig [Gandalf], I decided to go through LOTR... You will find that the later ones are not so great, and that it was all a bit repetative.[LINK]

[LINK]

My first SOTW entry that I had done especially. The theme was 'elements', and I got 9 points. SOTW thread

Ultimately, this was the sig that made me realise that I really should change the style xD[LINK]

This was were I tried to start to make my sigs a bit more unique. But I still wasn't happy with it. [LINK]

HI Palagrin.
All your works are awesome. thumbsup.gif
I really like it especially the one with Saphira and of course with Galadriel.

Very nice!!
Hope to see more of those. welcome.gif

PART TWO- After the repetativness of the whole LOTR series, I had decided to make my sigs all different. This meant that they took longer to make, and sometimes I got stuck, and just left them an did another. You will notice a major improvement already.

I was inspired to do this one from a restless night (believe it or not, I often get a lot of time to think, so yeah...). [LINK]

For this one, I followed a tutorial of deviantart. [LINK]

I tried to get back into LOTR after a long time of no ideas of what to do, thinking that maybe I could do them better. It failed, as you can see. [LINK]

Before making this, I looked at deviantart, at the sigs, trying to work out what made them so good. I saw a lot of manga smudgies, so I tried my hand at them. This was later the base of one of my SOTW entries (I will post it again), which came out much better.

This was my entry fgor the SOTW themed 'tropicality' I was very pleased with this ones, and I won the SOTW. [LINK]

This was my SOTW entry based off of the Smudgy sig two back. I didn't do too badly, I don't think.

This was another experimental one where I had inspiration from a late night. [LINK]
Palagrin
PART THREE- This is the time where I trialled photoshop CS4. It is also a major breakthrough with backgrounds etc.

This sig developed loads from what it was, to what you see. You can see full development in the thread I posted it in. [LINK]

This was my favourite sig for a while...[LINK]

My SOTW entry for the theme 'wild west'. I look down upon this as it didn't really take me much effort. [LINK]

This one took me quite a while to make, because I did a ton of touch ups and colourisation on Iorek and his armour to make them more clear and nice. The armour I made more gold, and Iorek I made brighter and less blue. [LINK]

I decided I wanted to do Serafina after I had done Iorek...[LINK]

Originally this was meant to be a spock sig, but in the end I decided to have the enterprise only. [LINK]

This started out quite bad, but it was one of those sigs that you could 'rescue'.... It meant I had to completly redo the background though xD [LINK]

My SOTW entry for the topic 'hands'. As soon as I saw the theme, I immediatly had this image. Sadly it was very hard to make, because it was hard keeping old painting and the more modern looking effect together. [LINK]

This was my first attempt at trying to do Beefstew's style...Not as good as I hoped of course! [LINK]

Another one of those long developers, I went through nearly 10 versions to get this one right. The end result it OK, I don't think it was ever my best. [LINK]

This one was a fun one to make...I like it very much. [LINK]

Made for the SOTW themed 'music', I really enjoyed making this one. I had great trouble finding what to do with the background in the beginning, but after I knew what I was doing I whizzed off... [LINK]

This took me a while to make, the background is the main part that took so long really. [LINK]

Made this one for the SOTW 'hero'. I wasn't overly pleased with this one. [LINK]

Who couldn't be tempted to make a sig with a render like that?! [LINK]

Inspiration to make this one came from the DARK is Rising trailer. At the end, the guy says something like 'even the smallest light will shine in the dark.' [LINK]

Another movie inspiration; after watching Krabat, a German film (book translated into English as the Satanic Mill). Looking back, I don't really like the background...it's too rugged somehow. [LINK]

One of my favourites I hav made so far...The original idea for it was quite different! [LINK]

This was my greatest flop. It was aweful, it was ugly. I quickly dropped it, and had a huge graphics block for a week or so. [LINK]
Palagrin

After the flop, I found a lovely render of peter....The backgrounds are made using lots of C4Ds. Pixel made a lovely connection between the background and the render...Read the topic and see if you can spot it... [LINK]

I really tried to incorporate a lot of C4Ds into this one. In the end, the render just didn't really match the background, so I dumped it because I had a better idea...[LINK]

My first good, none film related sig! Lots of C4Ds went into this one, and it took ages to perfect xD...[LINK]

What can I say? That I looove this sig I made... I love the colours and the blending... [LINK]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that was it! I will add more every time I make more. I hope you enjoyed or learned something.

Thank you very much giorgia!

I learned that you are overly critical of your work.
Palagrin
Critical thinking is what drives most creative people. I think so anyway. The product of my critical thi king has creative results, for example, say I watched a film, and didn't like certain aspects of it because of x. I would normally come up with a better idea that would replace x.

How egotistical of you to make this thread XD

But oh yes, you've improved a lot. =D Love the most recent one.

I made it purely for learning and entertainment purposes...I hope that most people will do this because I like looking at people's sigs and it is a pain to open a new tab for each thread. This is kinda an index...

Thankees very much!
giorgia
Your welcome Palagrin but I'm starting to love it now. All the images are good.
You've done a great job on all of those. I hope you do more because I am expecting to see more. thumbsup.gif
Palagrin
Oh, You can expect more, I won't be stoping for a very very long while...
BeefStew
Pretty nice portfolio you have there, I'm tempted to make one too, =P

But yes, you have improved much from what I remember... I like the way you use C4Ds, but try different ways of integrating them into the sig, and maybe work on blending as a whole, as that's a major problem I think you have to fix. Keep working and good luck, =)
JadeRiderofTerrador
Wow, they're all really good!! The ones at the top caught my eye the most, but my favorite is the one of Arwen and the beefstew style one D.gif I like it when people post sigs in a huge list like this, its so much easier to look at a heap at once, it gets annoying going in and out of topics, when you only get to look at one, and then there's the added inconvenience of searching for the artists topics!! D.gif

You do some amazing graphics work Palagrin, keep it up!!!
Pixel
Wow, it's insane how easy it is to spot the improvements as you scroll down. You really have gotten so much better at this! I think one of the biggest changes is the increase in variety of signatures.

I'd also like to point out to everyone that Palagrin was nice enough to let me use one of his most awesome sigs. D.gif
pityonmurtagh
I thought yer sig looked familiar.
